About Me

Moved to Minneapolis from the small town of Stevens Point, WI after 25 years. It seemed like there wasn't anything left there for me to be excited about.... I love all my friends there, and I miss them dearly, but at the same time, I still hadn't discovered who I really was, and I certainly hadn't found a 'soulmate' or whatever
I've always had a passion for music - I was a choir geek in HS, vocal jazz, chamer choir, solos, concert choir, etc... After High School, I suffered a musical 'identity crisis' - I went to 3 or 4 Phish shows, saw Greenday, loved the Invaders (Ska still rocks), listened to Candlebox and Bush ... I grew out of a lot of it, but I *LOVE* ambient music (If you don't know what it is, check out Brian Eno's definition of Ambient Music ). I'm also a sucker for piano - I love George Winston's Seasons series, for some reason it's always stirred strong emetions in me...
Then there's electronic music ... After hearing Plastikman/Richie Hawtin in 98, I bought turntables, and within a year I was spending all my spare $$ on vinyl. I still spend hella time/money researching new electronic music ... I've played onstage quite a bit, and I've even started promoting with my good friend Ethan from WI as Studio Gangstas . Since I've moved to the cities, I've played out as a DJ a lot less - focusing instead on work and meeting people...
Aside from music, I've got a lot of other passions ... I love to laugh, and I love to make people laugh ... I also have realllly stupid puns stuck in my head, and I have an affection for really sick jokes. It's like Turrets Syndrome, but with jokes. AHH!
I love movies ... particularly movies which make me feel lonely, happy, and sad all at the same time in that weird, almost undefinable way ... you've felt it too? ....
Last but not least, I'm also a computer geek. This is how I make what little money I do ... I love computers because they keep me connected and employed, but there are plenty more important things in life!
I know there's a lot more to 'Me', but I just trimmed this profile DOWN, and it's still way too long. You want to know more, talk to me!

Hrmm, lets see... I spin records as Matt E, and I promote "electronic music events" (parties anyone?) as StudioGangstas. I love my cheezey internet game, Subspace (I play as KavaKava), I love eating AND cooking good food (But not much salt please!)... Anytime you want to go get some Thai curry, let me know! I am also a devourer of books! If you catch me in the right mood, we can talk for hours about the human existance: consciousness, morality, spirituality, love, hate, passion, music, anything undefinable and philosophical. So, of course, intelligent conversation is a must! Then again, catch me in that -other- mood, and you're in for some of the lamest puns and slapstick antics around - I think I'm bi-polar: between 'thinker' and 'punster' - Either way, I love to laugh, I love music, and I love people. Oh yeah, and I cant forget - I love to DANCE! Give me some funky beats and a good crowd (so I dont feel like a spectacle, and no one's trying to hump me) and I'll dance the entire night, and be in heaven the whole time!

I'd like to meet:

I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles In our eyes are mirror images and when We kiss they're perfectly aligned...

Music:

First and foremost, anything you can dance to. Funk, Reggae, Breaks, Dub, House, Tribal House, Tech House, Techno, Progressive, Minimal, Drum and Bass, Experimental, Ambient, The Samples, The Cure, Aphex Twin, Richie Hawtin, Sasha, Josh Wink, Magda, Matthew Dear, Phish, Ani, Mile Maeda, Nigel Richards, JT Donaldson, Lance Desardi, Talking Heads, Brian Eno, Billy Holiday, Hall & Oates, George Winston, Postal Service, Ben Folds Five, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Ozric Tentacles, Peter Gabriel, ... the list goes on and on!

Movies:

Yes, I like cheesy sappy movies. But they have to be -smart-. Prime examples: Garden State, Donnie Darko, Vanilla Sky, Heat, Hero...
Others include: Dr Strangelove, Monty Python, All the Die Hard flicks along with Last Boyscout (yeah, Bruce Willis rocks as the bad-ass action hero)
Cheesy chick flicks make my eyes tear up.
Epics - Glory, Last of the Mohicans, 1492 - Conquest of Paradise (anyone wanna watch this epic with me again, it's been so long)
Brazil, 12 Monkeys, Time Bandits - Terry Gilliam is the Shit.
Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovitch.

Television:

When I was in 3rd grade, my mom gave my brother and me a choice: Keep cable television, or get an extra $2 a week each allowance (we already got $2 each per week). This meant we could buy more LEGOs, so the decision was *easy*! I really haven't watched TV to this day ... the only problem is if a TV's on in a room at a friends house, it has this terribly (seriously) hypnotic effect on me, and I'll actually defocus and zone out of the middle of a conversation, just staring at some advertisement... Scary!

Books:

Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy et al, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detecive Agency (all Douglas Adams books ROCK!), 100 Years of Solitude, Dhalgren, 'Filth' by Irvine Welsh, William Gibson, Snow Crash.
I buy 2-3 new books every week - I can read for 4-6 hours a day AT WORK, and they DONT CARE! (woot!)
