About Me
Hello, my dear friends! My name is Victor Cohen and I would like to introduce to your attention Pavlo V. Romanov. He is a unique artist, sculptor and philosopher/thinker of our time who is still unknown to people. And now he will be “opened†here for you.I am absolutely sure that you will have a lot of questions…Who is that man? Why he, having such an extraordinary, shocking and sometimes tempting works, - why he is unknown to the people who love and understand art? What are his works about? Who are that people who look at you from his canvases? Where does he get the themes for his paintings and sculptures?Does he create for his own pleasure? Or may be just for money? Or may be he has some other goals – higher and deeper ones? Were his work shown to the public, did he ever have any exhibitions of his works? Will it be any in the nearest future? To all these and many other questions I will try to answer in my article…Pavlo V. Romanov was born in April, 1976. From his very young age he was showing interest towards knowledge in different areas of life… and was talented in different kinds of art. All his human being, his “I†– was aimed towards creativity, towards making real some new and extraordinary ideas. Being only 17 he had already significant experience but he still devoted a lot of time to studying books, he works a lot with clay, stone, wood. But his favourite type of work which he loves and pays special attention to it is oil. Sometimes he was so absorbed in his work that he would not notice that it was morning already. In that period of life in his early ages he declares: “I devote my life to Artâ€â€¦His work which was so bold and his ideas – so brave, they were not appreciated and understood. He felt like exile in his own life. It was difficult for him to be rejected by the society which did not want to share his views, to understand his ideas. He was suffering a lot, he was deeply traumatised in his mind. Several years he spent in the special hospitals. But that did not stop him. He constantly continue to create his works…very often you can see some clear references to his own life, some stories from it, some people he met in his journey. You can see that in his pictures like “Artists in Exile†or “Friendsâ€.Sometimes, being very deep in his thoughts, he would slightly touch the canvas and as if some high spirits were leading his hand, creating a picture. Quite a few times I was witnessing his work. I saw how much hard work it involves. He works without rush, slowly as if eternity is present in his fingers. Every touch of his brush Pavlo fills with his emotions, with his experience. And when I ask him questions, such as “Why? What for? How?†in respond I get only: “My life is devoted to Artâ€â€¦I remember how his picture “Madonna and Britney†was created. And every time when I saw him working I wanted to say: “Pavlo, stop it! It is enough! This painting is beautiful… â€.And once I said that to him. And he answered to me: “you are not me… you can not experience the same state I am going through… the state which connects me with this picture, with the process of painting it… So, you can not know when the painting is complete…â€And he was right. The painting looked different every time I had chance to see it. Every time it looked transformed, it became more alive… more beautiful. And in the moment I saw the painting in its final version, completed I was so much absorbed with it, I went through such an experience that it seemed that I heard the music coming out of that painting. As if the picture itself were happy that it was created. So, why having such an extraordinary works Pavlo V. Romanov is staying unknown to the public? The thing is that Pavlo lives his life in a different world, in the world of different reality. He is not tempted with fame or money… he lives in the world of his workshop where day after day, without weekends or holidays he creates his works…It took me quite an effort to convince Pavlo to show his works to the public interested in art. He agreed to show only half of his works though. As a result in Glasgow and Edinburgh there were the following exhibitions: Archers Intermedia Gallery, XXX Gallery, Tron Theatre, Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow Art Fair, Transmission Gallery, AGKS Gallery, 13th Not (twice), Hillhed Library, Brunswick Hotel, Buddha’s Backyard, Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Café local St. Andrew’s St., Gate Gallery, XXX The Third Step, in Orkney, Stromness Library, and in Edinburgh in St. George Cathedral.Pavlo still does not want to show to us his sculptures. May be he is in the process of creating some big new project, and only when the whole thing will be completed he will show this creation to us. But it is only the guess of mine of course. And unfortunately I can not know what is happening in the artists mind.My attempts to convince Pavlo to sell his works were rejected. It is hard for me to explain to you why – Pavlo is a man with a mysterious mind and soul. But I am still trying to convince him to sell his pictures. I hope that one day he will agree to do so.In the conclusion I would like to say that everything that was mentioned in that letter is only brief description and far from full characterisation of that remarkable man, his ideas goes further then fantasies and imagination of normal man.Very often he shares with me his one idea, which is very important in our days – the idea of Transformation – the change of Humanity. Old rules don’t work any more, new ones are terrible. It is necessary to collect/to combine the best creative people of the world. The world needs more Love. We are wasting our energy on stupid things, we don’t want to do the main thing, the most significant one – to understand ourself. In the present moment we are trying to create website of Pavlo V.Romanov. at this site you will be able to find a lot of interesting things. Besides, I must say that a lot of effort invested in order to make it really surprising for you. But to be honest, it might take a lot of time too, because Pavlo’s fund are not huge or better to say that he does not have any at all. So, if you will feel possible to help – Pavlo will receive your help with gratitude. May be you would like to organise the exhibition of his works in your own town? Right now it is possible only in UK.In conclusion I would like to say thank you to everyone who showed interest in Pavlo V. Romanov and his works, to everyone who read that article. But also to those who did not read it but live their lives with Love in heart, who creates, who tries to make this world better, who tries to make better themselves… from the clay of their flesh and soul makes the creature which might deserve to be called a Human Being.I love the whole World.
I love the whole Universe.
