I'm Senna August. I have 4 beautiful children. My teenager daughter Julia is at grandma's and I miss her very much. My 11 year old Ava is busy being a straight A student and violinist. My 6 year old Lydia is bright eyed Kindergartener , and my son Jaden is finishing up the PreK 4 yr old program this year. We have a dog named Petey, a white with black pitbull, and we are fostering/watching a beautiful brendle pit named Duchess. We have 2 mississippi map turtles named Houdini and Scout that I was "watching" for my friend Kimmy a few years ago, and a lucky guppy that lives in their tank namded Hercules. We live in a small quiet neighborhood and try to go the country on the weekends as much as possible. We like playing by the creek, building fires and rock towers. We like roller skating! I helped start a roller derby initiative and am so proud of the Charlottesville Derby Dames for coming to life! I hope to join them soon. My children and I come from very musical backrounds and we have many many positive influences in our lives. It's nice to know it lives on in their souls, in all our souls, all the music we've seen live and listened to on the radio since we were all small.
My parents were swimming in this river, the Mormans River, just hours before my birth.Right after midnight, I was born at home in Nortonsville Va, in a small 2 room cabin on the side of the road during a hurricane in 1975, delivered by a vietnam vet with a red bandana and braids and his wife.I grew up as a tenant steer rancher, though we are ironically vegetarians, with out indoor plumbing until 1984. I am an only child. My dad drove volkswagons for years.We had a goat and a donkey and chickens and dogs and way too many cats. That's me on my 6th birthday, I made all the hats! I left public school and went to St.Anne's Belfield in the 6th grade for 4 years of the best and only education I recieved, honestly.I went back and skipped 10th grade in public school, soon to graduate. I had purple hair, shaved in the back, a nose ring, the motorcycle boots. In rural VA, I was freak of nature. I'd go see my friends in D.C. and we'd go to Commander Salamander in Georgetown to buy Manic Panic hair dye before it had made it across the Potomac River. I traveled a little when I was younger, I graduated high school at 16. I went to Rainbow in Quebec and turned 18 on a beautiful lake in the north country with loons singing. Then my car broke down in Vermont and I ended up hitchhiking with a buddy all the way home to Virginia and down to New Orleans and then to Miami. Then I came home and went back to college at Antioch in Ohio, soon to find out I was pregnant with my first child. I moved to Portland Oregon and back here. Here I AM. I had kids, they had dads, it's all very complicated though it didn't used to be.Some day I wanna grow up and be an old woman...and of course,in memoriam, Phillip, my daughter Julia's father.
