Abstruse starts as a band of two members by Substant and Veiler in 2002.The two members had formed another band before (1999). The formation of Abstruse was the materialization of the idea of a music with a mysterious "dark" feel in it with the inner desire of "illumination". Thus the scope of Abstruse music is self-actualizing freedom by the exploration of "unridden" musical paths. In the begginning, grim melodies were explored to conclude into more majestic ones but with a mysterious essense in it.
The psychedelic images that are used are adding a surreal element to the eerie fx's and sounds that guitars or other guitar-like instruments produce.The mixture of live instruments with programming and drum mashines with real drums are used in such a way that it will be hard to regognize which is real and which is not (as real guitars are transformated via the psychotic fx's into unwordly ones and the opposite).
The elements that Abstruse use, are various different combinations of musical styles: Metal guitars, thrashy riffs or black metal eerie melodies, contrast the 20th century composers' music, with a variation in the usage of modal-systems, dark scales such as diminished (half-tone, tone...) or atonal and serial system musical forms.Abstruse do also have their own-created scales such as ''Majestic'' and a file of hundrends of usable scales
The further scope of expanding the analogic relationship between musical forms and visual ones, hope to bring an interralated musicalvideo art in the near future of Abstruse.
