D. SavageAs a young man growing up in the Bronx, New York, you could dream of growing up and doing several different things. You could dream of growing up and being a lawyer, a doctor or even a teacher. Okay, let's get serious, you would dream of becoming an emcee. Damion Owens, as a young man, saw all of the hip-hop oriented things happening around him. This fed his desire to rhyme. With emcees like the Funky 4 + 1, KRS-One and Boogie Down Productions, Camp-Lo, and the whole Diggin' in the Crates crew around, how could you not be inspired? By the age of fourteen, Damion would turn his poetry into rhymes. Because of his direct attack with his lyrics, Damion became known as Hardcore. Along with his Harlem-bred partner Lew a.k.a Da X Factor, the two, known as Double Homicide made a name for themselves by battling and performing in local talent showcase. Hardcore would then become D. Savage. Da X- Factor would become Lew Diamondz. D. Savage and Lew Diamondz would then become Savage Diamondz, as the duo began to work harder at getting their names out on the street. D. Savage would start, at the age of 17, living a bit of a nomadic lifestyle by moving up and down the eastern seaboard as far down as Florida and as far up as upstate New York. After a few stops in between, D. Savage eventually landed in Charleston, SC. Of course his travels helped inspire his style although he "will always be New York. He was born and raised there".D. Savage always returned home to put his rhymes down with his partner, Lew, but for a while felt that the rap game had become a little stale. Then in 1999 his saving grace came in the form of Ms. Fat Booty by Mos Def. That song helped to reenergize the emcee. Now, along with a couple of producers, Big Patch, and PZ Beatz, also known as Smokin' Skunkz Track Team, Zo also known as HNIC of NCC , Supa J of Blaze one Studios, D.J Impeareal the Brooklyn Born & Bread Producer and his longtime partner, Lew Diamondz, D. Savage has found his groove. Up next for the Bronx emcee is BackIIBack Media Group and his Savagely Speaking Da Ep!!! .
BackIIBack Records - D. Savage is co-owner of The BackIIBack Records. Established in 2007, The BackIIBack is home to artist SavageDiamondz as well as D. Savage, Lew Diamondz, and Knowledge.
