About Me

...I'm a local girl stuck on the mainland for now (by choice). I met my Big Island boy on AOL in the old Honolulu Chat ages ago. We did the long distance thing for a year before I moved here in 2001 to be with him until our teenagers grad from high school. After that we'll move back home where we belong. Between us we have 5 kids...I have a 18 year old son, he has a 18 year old daughter, and together we have a 5 year old daughter, 3 year old twin daughters and a 7 month old grandson (ahhhhh!!!). We have a bearded dragon named Pupuka (but the kids call him Yucky) and a bunny named Pork Chop (but one of my kids can't say that so she calls him Ketchup). Living here is ok but I really miss home especially my family and all my friends...My kids keep me so busy that I lose track of time and have little time left at the end of the day for my 2 favorite passtimes, quilting and being a kr0nik .. lol =)

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Music:

I love all kinds of music...Hawaiian, country, rock, alternative, new age, reggae, jazz, r&b, hip hop, pop, (some) rap, zydeco, grunge, classical, and, of course, disco...I like classic rock and disco but I will always love Hawaiian music best although, truthfully, I try not to listen to it cuz it makes me miss home.

Movies:

I love watching movies in the theater but with as many kids as I have, it's hard to go movies. We rent movies from Blockbuster almost every week so even if we didn't see it in the theater, we've seen it. My all time favorite movies are The Princess Bride, Twister, Steel Magnolias, Fried Green Tomatoes, Apollo 13, Shawshank Redemption, Phenomenon, A Knight's Tale, That Thing You Do, 50 First Dates, Donovan's Reef, National Treasure, Kingdom of Heaven, any Harry Potter movie, Something the Lord Made, Because of Winn-Dixie, Walk the Line and Dogma. Pay It Forward is actually a pretty good movie even though it's a little hard to follow at times BUT the message and the idea are absolutely awesome and inspiring. New movie I love is Memoirs of a Geisha (I loved the book better but the movie is great)

Television:

TOTALLY LOVING Dirt, Pushing Daisies, Reaper, Rescue Me, Country Fried Home Videos, Deadliest Catch, Planet Earth, Dirt, Ugly Betty, House, Two & a Half Men, Man vs. Wild, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, Miami Ink, LA Ink, Little People Big World, Dog the Bounty Hunter and Sopranos repeats on A&E. I like cartoons too Avatar, Pucca, Bleach, Afro Samurai, Shin Chan. I also dig shows about aliens and outer space, ghosts, nature shows like Blue Planet, and documentaries about Egypt, the pyramids, Stonehenge, Atlantis, and anything related to the ancient world. I guess that makes me a history buff (kinda sorta). Lately I'm loving any show about people raising multiples, I guess I'm looking for pointers and ways other people get through life. HGTV and all the Discovery Channels keep me sufficiently entertained.

Books:

I love to read. I read whenever I can, whatever I can. Spiritual, "religious", self-help, and science fiction/fantasy are my first choices. My all time fave books are The More Than Complete Hitchhikers Guide by Douglas Adams (he's written some other good books too - try The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul, it's pee your pants hysterical), The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien and Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress both by David Eddings. I can read these books over and over and over. I enjoy reading Piers Antony (his sense of humor is wicked), Terry Brooks, Robert Heinlein (R.I.P.) and my Bible.

Heroes:

God, my parents, my family and my loved ones including those who have departed this earth for their heavenly reward: Aunty Violet, Uncle Nick, Mr. Z, Aunty Gloria, Aunty Louise, Aunty Alice, Edward, Uncle Frank, Tiny, Iz, Uncle Kingsley, Aunty Nancy, Uncle Jimmy, Uncle Peter, Aunty Mabel, Papa Ching, Daddy Castro, Bob Marley and others. RIP the wonderful pets in my life: Kea, Maka, Maui, Max, Sam, Tabby, Rascal, Teddy Bear, Dino, Sassy, Tweety, Fufu, and Musky the Great
