www.mjh-art.comWhy hello. My name's Mike, I go to Westminster Uni and study illustration, and this is the MySpace division of my online antics... MJH-ART.com .I set the site up earlier this year for three main reasons:First of all, to dip my toe into the lukewarm water of domain names, php files and html codes... a.k.a. the whole palava that goes with setting up a website, which, let's face it, ain't easy and I'm pretty chuffed with what i've set up so far (with fantastic assistance from Stephan - peace out dude!!)...Secondly, I wanted to get my own artwork out there for people to... well, look at basically. That's what artwork is for after all ;) Currently most of it sits in a dusty portfolio hidden from the world. Not any more thanks to this!And thirdly, but not leastly, I decided to create an online presence for all the creative, artistic students at the University of Westminster to get their work showcased, up on display on some kind of platform to exhibit to the hungry world. This is an idea i've had for some time... to cut a long story short, I quit the Uni of Westminster’s Student newspaper, The Smoke, at the turn of the year (I helped out as a designer of the layouts + logos etc) and I aimed to set up an alternative zine or journal to showcase artwork by students... time constraints put paid to that endeavour, so instead here it is manifested in the form of a website.I hope to set up more pages for different things, pages that display work by different students in the style of an online gallery, pages dedicated to all the goings-on in around the Uni and the London art scene in general, and most of all I hope to establish a web of contributors who specialise in anything that goes - blogging and writing, reviewing, drawing, painting, photographing… the list is (and should be) endless!See the site and its contents here .
