Music is multiracial and multicultural in its essence. It brings people from all walks of life together, and that’s what makes it great.
We are not about scape-goating any individual in the local music scene, we just want folks to think about the effects they are having on others. No one likes to be hassled because of how they look and no one should be.
What would the Punk scene, or any music scene for that matter, look like if you got rid of the non-whites, the lefties, gays, criminals, homeless or anyone else the Nazis sent to the death camps?
There wouldn’t be a scene.
That’s why there are so many passionately anti-racist and anti-fascist musicians. And beyond them there are many music lovers who understand that racism is a threat to everybody - that the multiracial, multicultural music scene is something through which we can express our unity.
We hope to see anti-racism and anti-facism return to the 'DIY culture' - whether that means forming a band in your garage or making tunes on a your computer.
We hope to make Rock Against Racism a vibrant movement from below. We want to see people move away from the faceless stadium rock shows and be inspired to set up their own gigs and events. We hope to be doing more shows and to open a small venue downtown and hope we can inspire other to Do it Yourselves.
