Spent a lot of time in England in my misspent youth. Pub, record shop, pub, record shop... I fucking loved Punk Rock and Hardcore! It was my existence. I started my own fanzine in Washington DC called "DEMISE OF POWER," heavily influenced by British Anarchist bands like CRASS, CONFLICT, SUBHUMANS... But I didn't limit myself to one genre or "A-political" stance, I embraced any music that gave me a jolt. So I also dug homegrown bands like MINOR THREAT, IRON CROSS, BAD BRAINS, G.I., DAG NASTY... the list is endless. DEAD KENNEDYS, MISFITS, BAD RELIGION, MDC, DISCHARGE, GBH, ONE WAY SYSTEM, DRI, RED ALERT, COCKNEY REJECTS, COCK SPARRER, OPERATION IVY, THE BLOOD, COMBAT 84, KILLING JOKE, DOA, REAGAN YOUTH, TSOL, CIVIL DISSIDENT, AGRESSION, CHRON GEN, ADICTS, SHEER TERROR, 7 SECONDS, BLITZ, CIRCLE JERKS, VICE SQUAD, CRO-MAGS, SHAM 69, GENERATION X, STIFF LITTLE FINGERS, EXPLOITED were all favorites, as well as a number of Reggae/Ska Artists. I also wrote for FLIPSIDE in California, PROPAGANDA in New York, THE PIT in Colorado, and JERSEY BEAT in, well, ya know. But that's a whole other paragraph. See Blog above for interviews.
I amassed a huge collection of vinyl over 10 years, but constantly moving from place to place, I couldn't keep hauling it around. So little by little, year after year, it dwindled to the records that meant the most (I converted a lot of my collection to CD). Now all I have left is one f'ing crate of 12"s and a nice box of 7"s!! But oh, what a great crate it is!
Now what remains of my vinyl I will put on display here. Along with some rare photos and other Punk memorabilia. A tribute to the music movement that taught me to... DIY!
People have asked if I'm interested in selling my records (especially the very rare vinyl). I'm considering it as I've moved on to other interests. But after holding onto it for over 20 years now, it will be hard to part company. See Blogs above for titles.
