I'm a curious person. I like new ideas. I like talking to people who know a lot about things I don't. I like trying new things, whether it's strange food, the latest gadget or just a different way of doing something. I love to travel, especially to places where I don't speak the native language.
I like to challenge myself and take myself outside my comfort zone. I like art and music and literature that makes me look at the world a different way.
I'm not into passive entertainment. I get too impatient. I have so much I want to do in my life that I hate wasting my time. I used to have a Tivo so I could skip commericals, but I finally had to give up on TV altogether. When I see a bad movie, I feel like I want those two hours of my life back, so I don't watch many movies anymore either. I can't stand celebrity gossip. Why would anyone want to live vicariously?
I love the water. It draws me like a giant magnet. I sail and scuba dive. I only started surfing a year ago -- I feel like the born again who just discovered Jesus. My favorite part of surfing is just sitting the board waiting for a wave. It is the most Zen thing I've ever experienced.
I'm a calm, introspective person. "Still waters run deep" is a good description of my personality. Sometimes in a crowd I'll get lost in my own thoughts and people will mistake me for shy or aloof. I tend to listen more than I talk. I tend to appreciate the things others take for granted.
I prefer to have a few deep friendships rather than a lot of superficial ones. I've known my best friend since I was 5. It takes a lot of time to really know me and I gravitate towards people who are similarly complicated. I have a lot of eccentric friends because I don't judge people. I like what is beneath the surface and what makes that person unique.
