About Me

Wonderful things happen when giants are dying. You might recall a moment when Peter Frampton, the Eagles, and a few others were finally succumbing to the toxic levels of self-indulgence they'd released into the world--and somewhere in a forgotten corner of New York the Ramones and Blondie were being born. Some say that another giant is presently wounded and soon to expire: the record industry itself. Maybe. Probably too early to tell. I know this, however: good things are being born. And I found one. This CD is strong evidence that rock and roll is being reinvented again. The Jane Shermans have thrown the book of etiquette away and are prepared to remind us that melody can still change us for the better, that every now and then noises in some kid's head can get out into the world and flip everything over. There is a girl singing here who makes me hope that she travels in a pack, that more are following behind her. She has songs that are not afraid to get a little reckless with melody-- have you ever been hurt by too many hooks? Listen to these tracks and you'll understand why members of The Kings of Leon and The Features wanted to get in on these sessions. The music is produced by Angelo (Kings of Leon) and engineered by Roger Moutenot (Yo La Tengo, Joseph Arthur) and mixed by Jacquire King (Modest Mouse). There's someone knocking. Please open the door.
