Today November 7, 2007 marks a very special anniversary date in my life. It is the 40th anniversary of the amazing reunion of my dad and mother who hadn't seen one another for 10 years. Here is my reaccount to this story.
I had started my 7th grade and my curiosity about my actual Dad had started to increase a lot. I started getting information from Mom..and found out I had an aunt in Southwest Missouri. Well on this date in 1967..after saving lunch monies for a couple of days..I went to a little drug store at lunch..and found a phonebooth. I sat in the booth..and placed a call to my Aunt. Obviously she was shocked to hear my 12 year old voice..and I was nervous. I asked her about my dad..and then she unloaded the surprise to me..She said "Would you believe right now on the top of the roof..your dad is visiting me??" She asked if I would like to talk to him..and of course I said "YES". She told Dad her Son was on the phone..and he thought it was his oldest son. Much to his surprise..I told him it was Me...Allan..He was So shocked..and we talked for a few more minutes.. Well to make a long story short, my Dad packed his bags in MIssouri..the ONLY day he was visiting there..and headed to see us. He showed up at 7:00 and it was a much more surprising reunion.
He and Mom chose to get back together..and we headed for Nowata (the courthouse is pictured above). The next day they received their marriage license and we were heading back to Northeast Texas to a little town called Leary..It was 40 years ago..and I wish to share this story with anyone who visits my page...
I like a variety of musics although Christian music is my most preferred listening pleasure. Mainly I like Southern Gospel Music and the messages that are sung by so many artists...from yesteryear and today. I also like Contemporary Christian..and others in the music field today.I enjoy other music too..Country..Bluegrass..
Folk and Pop...Blues...
Accoustical...and More... I am gaining new musical likes from meeting the different artists on this page. I have been a MUSIC lover since my teen years..and I can appreciate the different musical styles of today. Mainly I listen for the message..and being a former musician..listen for the melody of the song.
Musicianwise..I learned to play the 6 string guitar in my early teens. It was shortly afterwards that I learned to play the bass guitar as well. I have been told I was pretty good..always enjoyed compliments since I don't get to play anymore.
Here is a pic of 2 electric guitars...given to me as keepsakes that my Dear Dad played during his many years of being a musician. Needless to say...they are precious to me

My dear father was a POW in World War II for 153 days until the day of surrender. He is a hero to me..for various reasons. He fought in a war, and in his later years fought a different battle..the battle of alcoholism. He made such an unbelievable turnaround in his later years before he we lost him in 1997. Dad..I love you..and miss you.I have another tribute page to my dad that others may view it by clicking

I also want to mention another hero to me..Charles Washburn was a stepfather to me in my childhood days. He was a GOOD stepfather...not like the stories so many other people encounter in their lives. He did his best to be active in peewee baseball, scouts and he was a excellent carpenter. We lost him in early 2007..and Charley..I love and miss you dearly.
