Michigan Peaceworks Trains Local Youth! This summer Michigan Peaceworks is looking for energetic, motivated students to take part in Summer Activist Training. There are two ways to be involved in the program. One is to be a high school participant and the other is to be a college mentor providing leadership and guidance to help students achieve their goals. High school students would be working in the following areas of Michigan PeaceworksYouth Activist Network:Peace Players - street theater troupe using creativity to spread a message.PeaceCast Productions - creating multi-media works of Peaceworks & Youth Activists events plus other videos of student's own interest.Armistice - a youth produced and written "zine" that gives youth a voice in their communities.Student interns will learn leadership and community organizing skills. They will be able to self-identify goals and projects that they feel can create change in their communities. Student Mentors will be working directly with high school students, helping to oversee projects and give them guidance when they need help. There are stipends available for high school interns. For more info about being a participant or mentor please e-mail Lauren at [email protected] or call the MPW office at 734-761-5922 for an application.
