About Me

Stephen Svanholm is an opera singer living in Stockholm, Sweden. A three octave range and multitude of vocal colours make his voice, sitting in the high baritone range, extremely versatile and hard to classify. Here you can hear a selection of his crossover material. He grew up in the UK, and after a career as a heavy rock guitarist, he returned to University and The Royal Northern College of Music to study music, and primarily singing. Since leaving college, Stephen has been working professionally as a singer in the UK and Sweden and also records Dark Soundtrack material with his project Sibelian, who can also be found here on MySpace. (www.myspace.com/sibelian)

Stephen has spent most of his performing career as a baritone, and among the roles he has performed are Belcore (L'elisir d'amor), Riff and Bernardo (West Side Story), Silvio (I Pagliacci), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Montroc (Un Giorno di Regno) Zuniga (Carmen). Summer 2007 he sung 21 performances as a tenor - Turiddu in Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana in the Stockholm area, as well as one of the Brabant Nobles in Wagner's Lohengrin at the Valdemarsvik summer opera in Sweden. He is now firmly back in baritone territory.
