Britt and Carly McKillip – also known as Saving Grace – are seventeen and nineteen years old, and already seasoned vets of the entertainment business. The sisters cut their teeth on an eclectic mix of music, ranging from vintage Patsy Cline to Michelle Branch and Gavin DeGraw. Their musical roots run deep – both parents are songwriters, and dad Tom is an award-winning producer and musician. The way they see it, Britt and Carly never really had a chance, since music has always been the heartbeat of the McKillip home.Performing has literally been a way of life for the girls. Their polish and stage presence are likely due to the fact that “When I was little, I just thought everybody’s Dad got up on stage or went on televisionâ€, as Britt explains. From the age of three, when she was able to belt out a song for her spellbound audiences, Britt’s future as a singer seemed set in stone. She’s gifted with an extraordinarily pure and supple voice, and in the past couple of years has fallen in love with the guitar – playing it onstage at every opportunity. Carly has incorporated her eight years of piano into the act – her intuitive playing style and honeyed vocals round out the distinctive Saving Grace sound. The girls call Vancouver, BC home and have accumulated an impressive list of credits in spite of their ages. The Calgary Stampede, the Merritt Mountain Music Festival and Canadian Country Music week are among the many events they’ve performed at, opening for artists such as Dwight Yoakum and Keith Urban.Over the past three years, Saving Grace has been steadily winning over fans with high-energy performances and riveting vocals, and in 2003 was nominated for ‘Horizon Award’ and ‘Group of the Year’ at the BCCMA Awards. In 2004 the girls took home the BCCMA ‘Horizon Award’; as well they were nominated for ‘Group of the Year’ at the 2005, 2006 and 2007 BCCMA awards. In addition to their flourishing music careers, Britt and Carly have been acting for over ten years. Riding the wave of a booming west-coast film industry, their resumes reflect not only the scope of their talent, but a genuine commitment to entertainment culture….in fact, in 2007 they signed with a successful Los Angeles management company, Anthem Entertainment, to represent their U.S. acting interests. As well as being featured in a number of movie projects, Britt has also appeared as a lead in two seasons of the critically acclaimed series ‘Dead Like Me’, which was also recently filmed as a soon-to-be-released movie. In addition she’s lent her voice to a number of animations including ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ as Sabrina, Disney’s ‘Baby Loonytoons’ as Baby Lola, and ‘Bratz’, to name a few. Carly has most recently appeared in a recurring role on the ABC series ‘Life As We Know It’ with Kelly Osbourne; and a guest-starring role on the new NBC hit ‘Bionic Woman’. Her most impressive acting coupe to date, however, has been playing the role of quirky teen Alice McLeod, on the CTV comedy series “Alice, I Thinkâ€, currently airing on both CTV and The Comedy Network. What’s next for Saving Grace? Britt and Carly are putting the final touches to their debut album, produced by none other than dad Tom McKillip (producer of Canadian country star Aaron Pritchett). Their project received a hefty kick-start from FACTOR (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Record) last August – Saving Grace was one of five artists, out of several hundred, to win the prestigious album recording grant. This CD will include a couple of self-penned tunes, in a collection of powerfully engaging songs that seem to defy definition, spike emotions, and take up residency in your heart. From the Stones-tinged “Misery Loves Companyâ€, to the jangly and defiant “You Don’t Know Meâ€, to the bittersweet lilt of “I Got Youâ€, there’s something truly compelling about the Saving Grace sound….it’s alive….melodic…..unique. The girls are shooting for a CD release in the spring of 2008, and are currently booking performances and showcases up to, and including, Canadian Country Music Week in September.Keep an eye on Saving Grace. They’re not quite country, not quite rock, almost alt, bouncing off pop. But they’re the new face of an emerging – and engaging – genre…..
