DJ Paul Edge
Psychedelic Dance Music is the latest music from DJ Paul Edge and Mike Odd fusing massive beats and stunning visuals.
Paul Edge started his DJ-ing career in 1989 playing cutting edge hip hop and breaks. Whether it was the devastating rhymes of Public Enemy or Big Daddy Kane, or the emerging freestyle sound from the East Coast of America, the rhythm of the drum and baselines dominated his sound. As acid house began to take hold in the UK, Paul fell in love with the fusion of analogue frequencies delivered by the Roland 303 and the drum rhythms of the Roland 808 and 909.
In the middle of 1990 he started his now legendary club night, The Outer Limits, a night dedicated to promoting emerging music and keeping the vibe real. During The Outer Limits 11 year run, the night became the definitive experience for all DJs to play. The list of guest DJS has become a who's who of dance music, Andrew Weatherall, Laurent Garnier, Mr C, Eddie Richards, Justin Robertson, Christian Smith, Luke Slater, Dave Clarke, Frankie Bones, Dave Angel, Colin Faver, The Advent, Billy Nasty, Terry Francis, Derryck May, Robert Armani, Mark Williams plus many more joined Paul Edge to deliver what many call "life changing experiences" on The Outer Limits dance floor.
The Outer Limits was quite simply, as close to a perfect club night as has ever existed. As word spread throughout Europe and the USA about the incredible impact The Outer Limits was having on UK club culture, the demand for Paul Edge to perform around the world increased. As The Outer Limits was weekly, guest appearances from Paul Edge were strictly limited, however with the advent of a new millennium, The Outer Limits held its final night on January 26 2000 and Paul Edge embarked on a global tour, playing at parties and club nights throughout USA, Canada, Germany, Luxembourg, Estonia, Slovenia, Ireland, Austria, Czech Republic, Croatia, France, Holland and Switzerland.
In 2002, Paul Edge switched his focus to the US scene, touring the USA extensively. In the aftermath of 911 and the Rave Act, Paul Edge took a step that very few European DJs opted to take - namely to show his support and commitment for the beleaguered USA club scene. "In my view, Chicago and Detroit were the birthplaces of house music, as such, when the US scene came under attack from a government worried about the social impact of club culture, it was the responsibility of every DJ who had enjoyed the good times in the US club scene, to step up and support the clubbers, the people on the dance floor."
As Paul Edge has reiterated time and time again, "the most important people in a club are not the DJS, not the promoters, but the kids who come week in week out, paying their hard earned money, to hear good music, and without them, there would be no scene".
To define Paul Edge`s contribution to underground dance music in a few sentences is a difficult task. Often outspoken, fiercely passionate, Paul Edge`s commitment to his art is unrivalled. Whether he is playing in front of 25000 people or 200, the intensity that comes from each performance is at times mind blowing as clubbers around the world will testify.
As one German promoter put it "Clubbers may not know who DJ Paul Edge is when they turn up, but when they leave, they will never forget what they have just experienced".
2007 will see Paul Edge return to live performances once again, however, Paul Edge will be taking these to a new level. Throughout 2006, Paul has been developing a live show, that incorporates not only decks, but also Final Scratch®. Added to this, stunning psychedelic visuals from his life long friend and partner Mike Odd now accompany each performance. It is the next level for DJs, where the computer integrates with analogue, where music speaks to visuals, and where the DJ creates live, fusing original music with original creation, and delivering a truly unforgettable experience for the clubber on the dance floor.

Mike Odd
Mike Odd has spent the last 15 years touring the world with Paul Edge listening to loud music in sweaty clubs. As Edge`s best friend and business partner, Mike was an integral part of the legendary Outer Limits clubnight. Anyone who attended those hot, sweaty intense night will remember Mike leading the screaming dancefloor and creating mayhem and havoc. A brilliant graffiti artist, he teamed up with Edge 5 years ago to form TOL23 Design, a cutting edge flash design company that has won praise from around the globe.
TOL23 Design is the visual side of The Outer Limits. Now an integral part of Edge`s live shows. Mike`s genius comes from his ability to interpret the music with stunning visuals, providing the clubber on the dancefloor with a true psychedelic experience, fusing stunning imagery with the rhythm of the drum, creating on the fly and helping to take the music into The Outer Limits.
Pablo Manzarek
Pablo Manzarek is the son of Ray Manzrarek, keyboardist of the legendary rock band The Doors. His family has a history in music, and since early times he has felt it's influence. It all began when his father introduced him to the piano, an old arp synthesizer and a portable cassette deck. From there it was on to, drum machines, synths, samba classes, 4 track tape decks, high school bands, digital audio workstations, studios, etc.In 1994 he co-founded Lo-Tek Records. The first (and only) release from the label was the self-titled debut of Livestock, and it was his take on the music that had inspired him throughout his life. After a brief hiatus, he founded Carpet Bomb Records in 1996, with mutual friends. The label released three albums in which Pablo's work appears. The first of the three was from Microstudio, whose debut 12" e.p. was titled Cubensis. Pablo created two remixes under the moniker Tripform for the e.p. as well. The second release in '97 was a split 12" between Microstudio and Unagi Patrol. Microstudio's epic Rural Development Project is the only track on the album. In 1998 the third release was a compilation cd titled Highways Over Gardens. It features Microstudio's Rural Development Project and Cubensis (abstract mix), Livestock's Lawn Drop, and Tripform's 20 minute drum and bass exploration, Chop Y Chop.
Additionally, around 1997, Pablo was seeking to start a band in L.A. It would be a new achievement to create a band which fused electronica with guitars and drums, and also being able to play live on stage without relying on computers or dat recordings. Pablo went over to jam with brothers Zack and Nick Young, and brought with him a MicroMoog. The brothers were new to electronica and the idea of synths and samplers in traditional rock music, but everyone liked what they were hearing and wanted to create more. So on the next jam Pablo brought his Nord Lead and began the process of learning to play two parts at the same time. Left hand for bass and right hand for melody, following in the footsteps of his father. After a while they formed into a band and decided to call it A.I. After creating a demo and shopping it around to various music industry people, they generated excitement and got the major labels interested. A bidding war ensued and soon they found themselves in a deal with Dreamworks Records. They recorded their material and eventually teamed up with Chris Vrenna (of Nine Inch Nails) as producer. The self titled album was released in August of 2002.
These days, Pablo is mostly splitting his time between taking care of his son, Noah, and furthering his love of music. He has a track featured on the latest Fateless Flows compilation, and he is in the studio working on new tracks for upcoming projects.
Pablo is presently collaborating with his father on various interesting musical adventures.
