One day he just showed up, and he seemed like an old friend like he had been around since time immemorial; like he had been singing the blues ever since the world began.

DISCLAIMER (FAQ) re: Mojo Risin

I am NOT Jim Morrison (if I were I'd say I look pretty good for someone who would be 64 years old).
I am NOT Jim's long lost illegitimate son, as immortalized in the song, Maggie McGill, as the child Jim begot in the back of a rock and roll car.
I am NOT channeling Jim Morrison's spirit.
I am NOT his personal reincarnation.
I am NOT mad; I am interested in freedom.
I am Joe Rossi, a man with my own life and memories who grew up in Southern California. Any resemblance to any real person, living or dead, is purely coincidental. Celebrity Voices Impersonated.

A Short Bio of Joe Rossi

Joe Rossi was born in Los Angeles, California on February 25, 1963. He grew up in Arcadia, California where he graduated from Arcadia High School. He attended USC after graduation but dropped out after one semester to pursue his artistic ambition. In and out of community college and a variety of jobs ever since, he formed and gigged with several bands throughout the 1980’s including The Looking Blue (1985) and The Cut or Beat Babies in 1988-89. A Grateful Dead cover band called Cassidy in 1990 as well as the Loose Connection, in 1991.
In 1993 Rossi shifted gears, and began working as a journalist for the Pasadena Weekly, in Pasadena California, where he covered the controversial city council of the day, often locking horns with local firebrand Isaac Richard. Married in 1993, him and ex-wife Jodie Woods-Rossi-Fish, moved to Austin Texas in late 1995 to be closer to her family when she became pregnant with Jerry Rossi, his first child and named for the late Jerry Garcia.
Rossi spent the last ten years working and living in Austin Texas, at first for a local trade publication called Unisys World as managing editor
Rossi then began working in the delivery and courier businesses like so many other starving writers, artists and musicians. He continued to write and post, and create websites for his original works and music. In 2006 he self-published P.S. Kiss The Duchess For Me , a book featuring letters written by his namesake and grandfather, Joe Moss, who perished in France fighting in World War II. He also put out a CD, Last Fling W/ Decadence & Democracy and self published at lulu.com his experimental novel, Double Down.

Sex W/ An Angel

She came from outer space
She had an angelic face
She had wisdom in her eyes
& she knew how to cry
I had sex w/an angel
She was so divine
She was so sublime
She had the kiss of time

I want to satisfy her
I want to make her scream
I want to satisfy her
I want to feel her love stream

she had soft brown curls they hung so naturally
and she had eyes that spoke of gentle mystery
she sang a song about love and ecstasy

I looked into her eyes & I saw another mind
I looked into her eyes
And I felt myself unwind
I felt the sudden sharp and narrow surprise
of seeing every hidden truth
And every hidden lie.

-beautiful backing vocals by Pam Rasada. guitars, song and vocals by Joe Rossi. Drums & percussion: Terry Burke & Doug Maas & Devin Thomas. Keyboards: Gesine Lohr. Bass: who knows.

Break on Through to the Other Side

Riders on the Storm

Sounds Like:

Love Her Like The RainShe's like a cloud
floating across the sky
fall in love w/ her
& you will never ever die

and I love her, love her like the rain
and I love her, love her like the rain

She's like a dream
floating downstream
floating away
up into the sky

forest princess, queen of the living earth
she's the light, the air, the trees
she's the love, the love we breathe
she's the thunder, she's the rain
& you need her or you'll go insane.

and I love her, love her like the rain
and I love her, love her like the rain
like the rain
like the rain
like the rain
like the rain

- recorded live in 1991. Backing vocals by Patty Gladwynne, AKA Tree, Ken Whiteley on acoustic guitar, vocals and lead guitar Joe Rossi, drums by Doug Maas, percussion by Terry Burke aka ELBOP, and Keyboards by Gesine Lohr.Every Star Must FadeWhen you're gone I'll cry
Into the night's sweet song
Oh and now you're gone
Oh and now now that you're gone

Where did you go my little ray of sunshine?
Where did you go my little ray of sunshine?
You said you would be here
Where are you now... because I need you right now!

So now you're gone so say goodbye
Don't even stop to ask her why
Times like these are bound to try
And souls like you and me, we'd rather fly.Maybe one day we'll find
A place where we can forget
All the broken promises we made
All the reasons why every star must fade.

Angels By The Sea

We got 90210 & Shannon Doherty
& everything is fine in the land, the land of make believe
& we thought that Johnny Carson would never leave
& everythings a lie in the land, the land of make believe

won't you come see my angels by the sea
buried treasure is waiting if you believe
& there is always someone or something new to see
see the angels, angels by the sea

Mr. Brady died of AIDS, whatever happened to Rueben Kincaid?

at Sunset & Doheny where the heavy metal rusts & rolls
David Geffen is looking out the window of his Rolls
picks up his cellular phone to call W. Axl Rose
hits the wrong button and dials H. Ross Perot.

at Venice Beach an old man makes spare change reading palms
another man gets bent out of shape, reading the Psalms
Harry Perry skates by playing his Les Paul
Been down there so long, Lord knows he's seen it all

won't you come see my angel by the sea
sometimes she's pretty; sometimes obscene
sometimes we dream of better worlds to be
we dream of angels, angels by the sea

Mr. Brady died of AIDS, whatever happened to Rueben Kincaid
