It is said that some minds can never rest in peace. AENAOS is a musical entity conceived by such a mind, while it is destined to haunt the «restless» and the «sleepless» ones. But let us start from the beginning… After the unfortunate split of one of the most highly acclaimed bands of the Hellenic metal scene, SEPTIC FLESH, the guitarist, lyricist and songwriter Sotiris V. decided to experiment with something new as his mind and soul were always haunted from musical ideas «screaming» to get out. Inevitably the time of silence came to an end and Aenaos was born… Although Septic Flesh were recently resurrected, Sotiris V. decided to keep this project alive. Aenaos is a different yet equally pleasurable challenge, as the songs are formed around the melodic vocals mainly. Having a clear sympathy for the bizarre and occult, an open mind for musical expression and a rebellious spirit, the music of AENAOS is aiming to bring a new breath to the wider metal scene. The sound is heavy and loud, while the music expands to more than one branches of Metal music, as naturally as a snake changes skin… Considering the past of Sotiris V. his classical musical background, his career with Septic Flesh and his participation in a wide musical range of bands, as Danse Macabre (gothic) and Chaostar (neo-classical) to name a few, it all makes sense. Actually, the sole source behind AENAOS is the experienced and uncompromised songwriting and performance of Sotiris V. As for the lyrics of AENAOS, they are dealing with themes that reflect the mysteries of cosmos and the hidden psyche, combining ancient symbolism and mythical elements with modern thought (something familiar in the works of Sotiris V.). As a matter of fact, the name Aenaos is based on an ancient Hellenic word with the meaning of perpetual continuity, or in a more general sense the everlasting One. In addition there are lyrics inspired from science fiction literature. A good example is the “Last song for Elric†that is referred to Elric of Menlibone, the cursed hero that was created by the pen of Michael Moorcock. Aenaos is about to release a rough promotional material under the title “Man with no shadow†as an introduction to labels that would be interested for a contract deal. The material offers just a glimpse of what is to come, making apparent that the music of AENAOS is based on solid and dark riffing, pale guitar melodies, moody synths and the sharp, yet melancholic vocals of Sotiris V. But most of all, Aenaos presents an identity of its own and has the guts to stand out from the crowd.
