In 1987 Ground Zero began writing their own music, and at the same time a new singer and a keyboardplayer became part of the band. In 1988 Kimmo Peltola joined the band as the new guitarplayer, and this started a change in the music. Now the primary inspiration came from Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Van Halen and the music David Lee Roth made with Steve Vai, Billy Sheehan, and Gregg Bisonette and others. Ground Zero played at several festivals in Denmark and in 1990 the band won a big music contest.
Later Brian Peltola, Kimmo Peltola and Povl Henneberg were part of a band called Wet Spot, who played hundreds of gigs all over Denmark in the ninetees. The band had a great deal of fans due to the reputation of good playing and good live performance.
Discovering a fantastic band like Dream Theater really gave us inspiration to try new ways of making music. To us they are outstanding, but anyway listening to their music made us feel that we could take our own music to a higher level - to make music which is totally different to everything else we have played. You cannot say that we have a specific style. Or you could say that the lack of a specific style is our style.
Our background in a musical sense is very identical to each other, and we are trying to use the experience we have achieved in a new way. Maybe you could say that we are trying to make a musical and lyrical comment on the world of today. The name of the band symbolizes curiosity of getting to a new level of understanding of what life is. In relation to this it also symbolizes new ways of making music - having the courage to try something new.
