Legio Mortis was founded in May 1997 by guitarist Frank and keyboard player Stephanie. At the beginning they were supported by Torsten as second rhythm guitarist and drummer Steffen. After writing a few songs together, Torsten left the band in April 1998. In January 1998 a new guitarist, Andreas, was found and with him Marco, who took over the microphone from then on. Naturally the new musicians brought new influences and songwriting began immediately. In August the same year the band played their first gig at the Rot In Hell-Festival together with Septic Flesh and Gardens of Gehenna .. very succesul. Shortly after this gig, however, Steffen left the band due to a lack of time. This meant a bad setback for the band as for a long time no new drummer could be found. Legio Mortis decided to use a drum computer for the time being, although songwriting had to suffer during that time. The first demo ..Servants of Satan.. was recorded, and sold pretty successfully. Finally a new drummer was found in September and with him came also a new guitarist, who replaced Andreas, who had left the band due to personal reasons. The band spent the time until April 2001 songwriting and rehearsing, and a couple of very successful gigs were played.Legio Mortis thought it was high time for a bassist, and so Eddy appeared on stage. But yet another setback for the band, when Benedikt, the drummer, decided to leave the band. Fortunately Steffen agreed to play the 2003 gigs. However, this was only an interim solution and therefore the band had to look for yet another drummer, who they found with Markus. The new drummer matched up perfectly and so the band decided to record their first album. This was done with the help of Daniel at the Basement Media Studio in Schnelldorf/ Germany.2005 was to be be the most successful year for the band. A lot of gigs were played with bands like Caliban or Ektomorf. But they had to face another change in the line-up. Guitarist Jan left the band and was replaced by Thommy. In February the band signed a contract with the label Atomic Symphony Records and had their album remasterd at the Dayrunner Studio. After that, Legio Mortis dedicated more time to live gigs. The album was released in August and drew the attention of for example the Zillo magazine, who printed an interview with Legio Mortis.A lot of gigs have been played since then, among other with Vital Remains and Final Breath, but there was always time for new ideas and new songs, which made the band enter Basement Media Studio for a second time and second album. However, a release date for ..Theatre of morbid visions.. has not been fixed yet. support us to play on Metalfest 2007!
