This page is NOT run by Paul Miles. It's run by his loved ones.

About Me

The Iraqi War ruined the mental health of war hero Paul Miles and now federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of Texas have thrown him in Prison for 2-1/2 years and the prison refuses to treat him for his ailments. In fact, they changed his psychotropic medications to cheaper ones, but that are causing him physical pain! No telling what long term damage is being done, the prison won't test his blood as required by their own protocol! All his parents want is that Paul gets the treatment for BiPolar and possible Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that V.A. doctors say he needs.An Eagle Boy Scout and church missionary, Sergeant Paul Miles came back from Iraq a decorated hero, but a changed young man. A small PVC device he made—little more than a homemade firecracker—was found in his apartment, along with some marijuana plants and “psychedelic” mushrooms.Psychiatrists who have examined Paul say he is suffering from a bipolar disorder. His drug tests have come back clean. The Veteran’s Administration says that there’s a place waiting for him at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. But instead of releasing him to the psychiatric care Paul desperately needs, federal prosecutors sent him to Prison for 2-1/2 years...no medical help...no psychiatric help.
Is this how we should treat our wounded soldiers?
Please take time to read the blogs that we update with news.

Books:

CRAZY by Pete Earley...a good description of how we handle people with mental illness...Throw them in jail and put them in the revolving door of jail, unemployment, homelesness, crime and jail again. The Innocent Man, by John Grisham. A true story, not a novel. A mentally ill man is imprisoned and sentenced to death for a crime he didn't commit. Still, the police and prosecutors "Knew" he was guilty because he was mentally ill.

Heroes:

Paul Miles is an American Hero! *Volunteered for Iraq so fathers and husbands wouldn't have to go; *Received the Combat Infantry Badge when he saved American Lives after his HUMVEE was disabled by an Iraqi IED; * Received the Army Commendation Medal when he saved Iraqi lives during a clash between Coalition forces and an Iraqi Wedding Party;
