They hail from three different sections of the island of Jamaica. However, Al, Adrian and Miguel have been drawn together by one thing –their common love for music.The “sum†of this magnificent combination is - OneThird.Although the journey started just over two years ago, it was the 2006 Digicel Rising Stars [Jamaica’s Version of American Idol] competition, that turned the eyes of Jamaica on these multi-talented young men, and has made the name “OneThird†a staple in households, offices and schools, right across the length and breadth of Jamaica; and a force to be reckoned with on stage.Al, Adrian and Miguel, are all youngsters in their early to mid-twenties, with Al being the eldest, so it’s only natural that he has taken on the role of “big brother†to the others.Al, who’s from Portmore, St. Catherine, started his journey into music during his time at Excelsior High School in Kingston, Jamaica. With his smooth, crisp, clean, clear tenor, ease at singing falsetto and his effortless cool deliveries, Al has a hypnotic control over his female audience, and because of his trademark of appearing in hats, he has been branded the “ladies-manâ€. Al is destined to take another step up the rung of the music industry.Adrian, a native of Belfield, St. Mary, possess gospel-influenced, soulful lower vibrato-tenor. No one breathes soul into Reggae like Adrian does; has such, he has found great favor with ladies of all ages. His youthful appearance attracts the youngest of fans, and his seemingly innocence has perked the curiosity of older women. He has traded his chances of a full time medical career to be with his first love – music.Miguel, a son of Sterling Castle, St. Andrew, had an early start to his career, when he and his peers created havoc with the desks at Calabar High School in Kingston, St. Andrew, beating them like drums. As fate would have it, his first stint in the music industry was as a drummer. Miguel was however determined to make the transition, with his strong vibrato-heavy tenor, coupled with his politician like charisma and charm, bad-boy allure and stylish hot ways; he ups-the-anti with magnetism – he effortlessly garners a huge female fan base.Since being crowned Digicel Rising Stars 2006 [the first and only group to have achieved this feat]; OneThird has appeared on several major events including CVM TV’s Startime, Teensplash, Irie Jamboree [in New York] and a number of other calendar events. The group also shared stage with the internationally re-nowned Manhattans, Stylistics, Chi-lites, Blue Magic, Air Supply, Brian McKnight, Regina Bell, Damian “Junior Gong†Marley, Shaggy, Maxi Priest, Mr. Vegas, Beenie Man, Luciano, Da’ville, and Taurus Riley, Jamaican legends such as, John Holt, Alton Ellis, Ken Boothe, The Clarendonians, Jimmy Riley, Leroy Sibbles and others.With their dynamism transcending into their style of music, a smooth blending three-part harmony, gospel influenced, perfected fusion of Reggae, R&B/Soul, Dancehall, Rock, slick dressing, vivacity and effervescence, spontaneity and diversity – OneThird is ready and rearing to go beyond the boundaries of their natural musical influences of Reggae, R&B, Rock and Gospel, to genres and territories not yet explored.
