Y2K messed up our evolution...not our computers!

About Me

I am a guitarist/bassist that tinkers around with keyboards and evil drum machines. I am constantly working on successful production of my own ideas and collaborations, film scores and soundscapes. Check out my latest opus called "Seeds", it was recorded @ Echobase Studios by producer/drummer extraordinaire, Casey Lewis. It also introduces the lovely voice of Erin Penosky, the music was written with my eldest son, Tyler Burton( Bass Master). The song is the first recorded under the name "Bookends Collective" a concept of free expression, open-door, no genre un-explored collective. Erin and I are the constants and we will be working on more tunes in the near future, with new and old faces. Working with many different artists is the key to really capturing the essence of sound exploration. It is not the end we seek ...its the interesting ride there that counts.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: radio3.cbc.ca/bands/randy-burton
Band Members: I have conjured up a multi-cellular organism called "Bookends Collective" the concept is you wanna create...then lets do it... Erin and myself are the core with the idea that many different musicians with different instruments and skills come in and around the band. This way it is always fresh, creative and educational to all involved. Check out the first song recorded under the "Bookends Collective" moniker entitled, "Seeds".
Influences: Brian Eno, George Martin, Martin Hannett, Daniel Lanois, Bob Ezrin, Chris Stein, Andy Summers, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Robert Smith, Bill Stephenson, John Kastner, John Paul Jones, Gil Norton, Richard Wright, Stephen Egerton, Bill Laswell, David Sylvian, Massive Attack, Opeth, Portishead, Trent Reznor, etc.... I am influenced by all of the musicians i have played, jammed, recorded and performed with...everyone interprets music in their own way...and it is a pleasure working with people that can utilize that true freedom of expression...a group of people on different instruments... creating different frequencies...with practise... making the song come alive... and of course that occurs after endlessly weeding out the flakes, wanna-bes, pessimists, and cancers along the way... There's a tip to my old pal Darcy Logan Fitzpatrick(rip) who opened my eyes... and reminds me once and awhile how precious our "time" really is...
Sounds Like: All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
