Survival Guide For the Down and Out (Book 1) OCT!

About Me

I'm Jayhigh, I have been writing songs and poetry since I was about 13 years old. I have been performing since I was a child and have been a published poet since I was 15 (1992). I have always been into hip-hop, and had always wanted to grab a mic but because of a speech impairment I was forced to stay dreaming. People told me I could NEVER do that. Fortunately by some grace of god, when I performed, I didn't stutter at all, MY gift. I started rhyming in 1997, and the rest is boring, insignificant, history. Myself and my crew Cypher:Dissident, have performed over 200 shows as a group, and as individuals received, local awards, done soundtracks for awful cartoon central shows, appeared on mixtapes, and won battles. I am entering my 10th year of performing live, raw, ALWAYS DIY, music. I am currently working on my 2nd Solo LP entitled "Survival Guide For The Down and Out" Which is being produced by Tuff Soul Icon Jsan of Jsan and the Analogue Sons. I am also a student on my way to becoming a PhD or something.. I have released 1 solo album 2003's "Response-Ability" which nobody will ever have. One of the most prolific in the crew I am the only artist to be featured on all 6 albums released by CYPHER:DISSIDENT. I am also part of StarKillaz with DJ Cappel (co-producer of the underground smash "blue-eyes meets bed-stuy") Together our crew has sold thousands of records, recorded, mixed, and mastered independently, and continues to work in music, political activism, graphic design, web design, film, and studio engineering......JAYHIGH HAS DONE SHOWS WITH TOURING ACTS SUCH AS: Gym Class Heroes, Immortal Technique, Tame One, Slow Suicide Stimulus, Little Egypt, Daylow, Son of Nun, Thousands of One, El Da Sensei, Sev Statik, Dez, Rick Whispers, Yak Ballz, DJ Big Wiz, Ground Opening, Bisc 1, Jsan and the Analogue Sons, and many others.I AM DOCUMENTING THE PROCESS OF MAKING MY NEW ALBUM!!!
