It's been a long road to bring me to where I am spiritually and mentally and I regret nothing. My career is simple. I make ends meet by doing whatever I can to further my music and keep a roof over me and my two dogs Yoda and Princess Leia.
I'm not a trekky, but he is an old wise man, and he looks like him too. I feel (at THIS moment) that I’m in a pretty cool place in my life right now. I've been through many changes in my life since I've arrived in this wonderful city. I've met some of the nicest people in all my travels. I've been around the world several times in my life and Dallas has a special place in my heart and always will.
I've also met a few sh#%balls that have deceived me. Some romantically, some for spite, and some just for plain old dollars and cents, but the worst is for my time. That is something that I can never get back. An ancient chinese proverb is “An inch of time cannot be bought by an inch of goldâ€
My new mantra that I find myself repeating lately when I’m so fed up with life or situations that I cannot control is “I can choose…†This all sounds kinda hokey, but really it’s the truth. I CAN choose to do what I want. I can choose to get really pissed off, or I can choose to sweep it under the rug of life and move on. I tell ya it is really tough sometimes to turn the other cheek. I’m no different than anyone else, but sometimes to keep your sanity, ya gotta just suck it up, put on your big girl panties and wipe you’re you know what. Hell, shake the sand out of it while your at it.
A great friend of mine [Rick] has been a huge influence on me and my attitude in some of life’s most trying situations. He has many brilliant sayings and stories after being on the road with Alice Cooper for 15 years, but the one that has come up on more than one occasion is “What are ya gunna do? Make a mean face? Ca-mon!â€
That is so true. Is that really going to make a lick of difference if you get pissed off, throw a tantrum and make a mean face? You’re problem is probably still going to be there. You’re just going to look stupid trying to get through it.
He has also taught me that as crazy as life is, sometimes it’s better to be crazier than life. Give what you get and treat people how you would like to be treated. Pretty simple.
I gave rise to a kick ass local rock band called STRANGLEWEED for the last 7 years, and am currently drumming for another project as well called TURNING POINT from Paris, Texas. They are a great bunch of guys and as you can see by this video they are extremely talented for their age and I hope to be doing plenty of shows with them in the future.
HERE IS OUR VIDEO FOR "ON MY WAY HOME" we recorded it live off the floor at Five Star Studios and shot the video in their garage all in under 48 hours. ENJOY!KENN IS ENDORSED BY:
