Modern Jazzdrummer

About Me

Born in 1993 , I started playing the drums at 3 years of age. I´ve been rolli´n a snare every day since then. 11 years old I had the great fortune to meet with the great drummer and teacher Petur "Island" Östlund, and he became my "mentor". In the summer of 2007, I studied with worldfamous drummer and composer Paul Wertico, (former Pat Metheny group), and distinguished bassplayer and composer Rufus Reid.My main influenses in the drummingfield are Jack DeJohnette, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Brian Blade, Joey Baron, Roy Haynes, Morgan Ågren a.o. But there is a lot of genius work from the past that I enjoy: -Max Roach is unbelievably creative and technical, -Art Blakey sounds like earth itself, tryin´ to put things fair and square - and no one swings with bigger grace than Mel Lewis.MAN, there are a lot of good stuff to notice!! To play and express, means you are blessed with work! Do it right, and you can change the world...Art has the power to change your own mind - and thereby the way you look upon the world - from shady grey, to a mixed coloured outstanding spaceball!!!

Sounds Like: Things said about my playing: "Now I have to tell you the biggest surprise of the week. The jazz club Fasching became the home for the nightly jam sessions that occur after the last gig at the festival area. At 1:30 am on Wednesday morning a 12-year-old boy stepped up to play the drums. Boy! talk about his talents. Two of the band members from Voice stepped up to join him. This was fast bebop jazz here. And the groove of music was way beyond our limits. The young player’s name is Karl Henrik Ousbäck. I can only say that we all were taken aback by his performance and we all wanted him to play more. The twenty minutes he played was just not enough. This young player has a very bright future ahead of him. He's probably the biggest talk among the jazz musicians this week. Word has it he has already been playing with professional musicians."//Café creme. "Last wednesday, I saw a feauture star make his debut on the Fasching Jazzclub stage . That was BIG."//Lira music mag. "He´s great! The texture, the rythm, everything! And he´s so young!"//Andile Yenana and Herbie Tsoaeli.Karl-Henrik Ousbäck is sponsored by WINCENT drumsticks & accessoares www.wincent.se
