The Beginning..Zandi aka Dj Zan D was born in 1980. He grew up in a music motivated family where his father had a sound hire company. His music career started when in 1989 his father opened a night club called The Dukes Place in Vosloorus.
At only the age of 12, he was already going through the Dj experience clinging to his brother (Dj Choc) going up and down the streets of Johannesburg searching for good and exclusive records. At the time he had already started to mix but only when Choc was around.
Towards the end of the school days, the young teenager was already featuring on radio (Yfm, with Fresh on the mad half hour), school discos, Street bashes, parties, weddings and even clubs.LondonFor the love of music, Zandi decided to move to the dance capital of the world (London) where he lived for over 6 years. It wasn..t easy to get jobs as a Dj over there as the competition was too tough. But that never discouraged him; he worked himself up from hosting house parties to playing in the UK..s top clubs. This includes some popular bars in the heart of London like; The Zoo Bar in Leicester square,
Bar Room Bar in China Town and
The O Bar in Soho
His first experience at a London Club was at a club called the Africa Centre. This is a club in Covent Garden where the famous Soul 2 Soul played their first ever gig. Not only did he play in London but he also played at clubs around the UK and this includes The Cascade (Birmingham), All Bar One (Manchester), The Warehouse (Norwich) and Club Roots (Tottenham).And the beat goes on
Nerdelectric, a Brazilian leftfield artist based in London, heard some of Zandi..s production work and asked him to remix one of his songs. The project was later released independently on a white label as an EP.He never stopped there: he also had a good experience in promoting and marketing events in London. He worked with Appollo productions, the people responsible for hosting most of the South African concerts in the UK since the year 2000. Some of the acts featured were BOP, Mdu, Trompies, Joe Nina, Mzekezeke and many more.While working with Appollo productions, he got the privilege of playing opening sets at the Ludacris, MOP and Gangstar concerts.Back in Sunny South Africa2005 already has proved Zandi to be a good Dj and has been featured in Gauteng..s best clubs like Who Zoo, Monaco, One one five, The Blue Chip, the flashy Kilimanjaro, Calabash and Horror Caf...
He has played alongside Dj..s like Fresh, Oskido, Glen Lewis, Monde, Dj Cleo and many more
Zandi is now part of the Yfm revolution as one of their mix Dj..s playing every Wednesday between 16h30 and 17h30 on a show hosted by Chilli M and DineoDj Style
