For those who dont know, thats New York. I was brought up in a diverse environment. I started to read at a young age. My mom and grandmother was astonished by how I read so well. Words were exciting to me since I read my first one at the young age of one and one half years old. I loved the variations of what u could actually do with just one word. Now imagine one whole language. So by reading I learned how to place my words in the correct places they should go. But rap was not my love then. My younger years I wanted to be a brain surgeon and study neurology. So back then I stayed in the books. But then I became to like poetry. This was my catalyst to my decision to become a hip-hop artist. My influences in poetry was Maya Angelou, Grace Banks, Jeffery Woodard, and a host of other poets who touched me with their poetry. This made me realize that I could let out the things in my heart without stress. With poetry it is all about releasing the feelings or pain from within your inner self. So as I started to write poetry, it seemed a little bit too violent and out of content. But I still wrote and wrote because i was always stressed out. Until one day my local DJ that I was close to (god bless the dead) told me to put in a song format and come see him later and he will show me how it would sound over music. And the rest is basically history. My Days of hip-hop started at that very moment. As far as rap influences. Eric B and Rakim, Doug E. Fresh, LL Cool J, EPMD, A Tribe Called Quest, Leaders of the New School,Heather B, Roxanne Shante & Sparky Dee (a classic battle amongst female mc's),Queen Latifah,Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Nice and Smooth, Gangstarr, Black Moon & the Duck Down Camp, X-Clan (brooklyn's legendaires) Kool G Rap. Wu Tang Clan, Tupac Shakur, Christopher Wallace (R.I.P. to both of you), Jay-Z, N.W.A.,Snoop Dogg, Eazy-E, The Dogg Pound, and a host of others that I can't name right now. But if it was not for this era of elite mc's to come forth and open the door we would not have stood a chance against what they stood up against. Much respect..I wish i could thank each one personally. The name speaks for itself. I am V.P. of marketing A&R, also Junior V.P. of our indie label Get Live Entertainment.
