About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 Hey now! What a long strange trip it's been... I'm all about the MUSIC. I'm the keyboardist for MARS HOTEL. I am the director of the Mustard Seed Choir at St. Michael's in Old Town (7pm Mass; Contemporary/folk Mass). At any given time, you can find me at the Old Town School, I've been a member of the Dead Ensemble, the Floating Rock Ensemble, Lunar Ensemble, Blues Band Live, the Beatles Ensemble, Soul Ensemble...the list goes on. I've studied West African drumming (djembe, djundjun etc) with Taylor from Holy Goat Percussion, and Conga/ Latin Percussion with Carlos Cornier. Oh yeah, & I can play a little bit'o guitar, mandolin, bohdran, Hohner Melodica, and random other ethnic and funky instruments. Then there's the SINGING! I'm ALWAYS looking for new people to jam with. I am also available for weddings & church-related stuff, parties, studio work...you name it, I'll play it! Need help picking cool music for your wedding ceremony? Want someone cool to play AT your wedding ceremony? Want LESSONS? (piano or voice!) I can help! E-mail me or message me anytime!!

My Interests

Listening to, Playing, Practicing, Learning about, and LIVING LIFE through Music, Music and more MUSIC... & oh yeah, other things like theater, visual arts, genealogy, history...

Music:

I have WAY too many musical influences to list them ALL... Current favorites include bands like Eddie From Ohio, Sons of the Never Wrong, Indigo Girls, Poi Dog Pondering, Rusted Root, Soniadada, Cowboy Mouth, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Santana, Los Lonely Boys, JGB, Phil & Friends, RatDog, Grateful Dead, Umphrey's McGee, Blues Traveler, Jars of Clay, Caedmon's Call, Jennifer Knapp, Peter Gabriel, James Taylor... plus TONS of other singer-songwriters, early country, bluegrass, & folk, not to mention classic rock, classic R&B/Soul, PLUS broadway showtunes, jazz, classical, early music, LOTS of world music...basically musicians who can PLAY INSTRUMENTS, and/or SING and/or WRITE great lyrics & melodies... get the picture???? I could go on, but I won't.....

Movies:

I hardly ever go to the movies...but my tastes are somewhat... fluffy... Chick flicks, Disney, Sci-fi/fantasy, occasional not-too-scary-action, and of course, MUSICALS of any kind.

Television:

I admit it. I've waited all year for American Idol to come back on. Also, I dig some new shows..."My Boys" & "Men in Trees"...Otherwise, I sit around watching HGTV "reality" shows, and classic sit-coms.

Books:

does People magazine count? I'm so lame. I read magazines more than books... Chicago Monthly, Vanity Fair & music industry stuff....

Heroes:

Yup. It's me sangin & even playin' a little geetar. Here's a bit of a VERY close-up keyboard action...me w/ Mars Hotel... Mars Hotel at the Onion Pub
