"I started DJing in 2000, having been well into the developing Hardhouse scene in Sheffield for a few years before that. The first proper club I went to was a night called Nice @ Rockshots, Newcastle. I had a blinding night and saw for the 1st time the atmosphere dance music could create to a receptive audience. Id been a bit of a rocker / indie kid till then!
The next time I went clubbing I saw Tony De Vit and from that point on I was hooked. I realised i HAD to become a DJ and took to it really quickly. I cant imagine not doing it now!
My inspiration comes from the energy produced by music, the journeys it can take you on, the people you meet clubbing and the shared understanding between clubbers.
From 2000 - 2004 I was a Hardhouse DJ 100% but as I got more serious about my DJing, my tastes widened (to everyones shock!!) and I now pretty much play anything. Funky, Dirty & Electro House, Hardhouse / Trance, Deep & Progressive House, Bassline House, Breaks, Drum n Bass, Techno, Club Classics etc..! Its easy to "label" and Ive always been into describing sounds, but I cant be arsed anymore..Im just into music!
I have a wide variety of tunes to pick from and don't mind playing stuff people havent heard before. Its easy to just drop classics all the time but its not inventive. Except on New Years Eve! I have my trademark tunes like many DJs, but i dont hammer them to death. Id like to think my sets were varied and well structured.
I won the "Search for Nu-Talent" competition in assosciation with Goodgreef in March 2001 @ North, Manchester (and never got my prize of a set at Goodgreef. Yeah cheers Barry!)
