Biography on
“Ms. Kerlyn Regisâ€Born to Haitian parents in Brooklyn, New York and raised in both Dade and Broward county Florida, music became a part of Kerlyn Regis’s life at the tender age of nine years old. The contrast between her view of the world growing up and her immigrant parents' view of the world caused Ms. Kerlyn Regis to gravitate to the only thing that gave her release...MUSIC. She began writing and singing with her musical influences ranging from Imajin and Aaliyah to Whitney Houston.
In a house filled with turmoil between her parents she relied on music heavily in keeping her sanity. On a daily basis Kerlyn would search the house for blank tapes to record songs she had written and arranged. Notebooks were not just for school anymore, they were the resting place for songs that are still on her tongue today. Kerlyn was raised in the church and debuted with her first solo performance at Pembroke Road Haitian Missionary Baptist Church singing the song "Second Chance" with her youth choir. That performance gave her confirmation that singing was definitely her passion and performing live was something she treasured. Kerlyn continued to sing in church and even at school joining her middle school choir in 1998 and later developing her unique voice in her highchool's gospel choir in 2002. Throughout all of this, she fought to push her parents into thinking "out of the box" and attended everything from Barbizon Modeling to various casting calls as well as an acting school that went bankrupt after a year. While patiently working on her music, Kerlyn spent her time at school fine-tuning her other talents. She joined her high school’s dance squad and performed as a lead dancer for two years. She graduated high school with high hopes for college and its opportunities. After attending Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton for two years she transferred to the University of South Florida in Tampa and that is where she currently resides. She began working on her demo in May 2006 and has continued writing, recording and changing the combination of songs on the demo as the music becomes more innovative.
She currently takes advantage of her surroundings by performing at various school hosted events as well as community events for about 200+ people. Ms. Kerlyn Regis is definitely prepared to take what is hers and live her dream of becoming a recording artist. In the words of the beautiful songstress we leave you with this, “I realize that God is my foundation and with every down, there is an up. Singing is my passion and I want for nothing more than to share my gift with the world- no underlying or alternative motives. Rejection is not something I fear...it is something I turn into a tool in crafting a better me. So I will continue to pursue my dream until it is realized. I have come too far to ever think of giving upâ€. It is with great pleasure that we present this most humble and uniquely talented individual to you…Ms. Kerlyn Regis.
