Centered around the "emotive wail" that graced the Roots' highly praised "Guns are Drawn", and Philly producer/rapper Hezekiah's "Right On", the Mean's six members draw on a massive range of musical influences. Sharing vocal and songwriting duties with Mr. Livingston, fellow guitarists C.Raboteau and Gibney bring their own distinct flavors to the mix, rounding out the Mean's "exhilarating, indefinable sound."*
Though comprised of many seemingly disparate influences and individual personalities, the unifying feature of the band's musical sense is a commitment to directness and intensity of feeling. The Mean applies all of their sharp and unique talents in service of this commitment, and the results speak for themselves.
