These underground radio shows were hosted by Mr. Magic, the Supreme Team, Afrika Islam, Red Alert, Hank Love & DNA, P-Fine, Marley Marl, Awesome 2 and Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito. Each show has a unique format with an emphasis on the rarely appreciated influences within R&B and Hip Hop music. From exclusive, new releases to album cuts and unsigned talent, THE ZRO HOUR is the place to discover rare musical gems.
ABOUT THE HOSTS
EDAYE, CEO of SIX ZRO Entertainment, is the creator and production director of THE ZRO HOUR. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, EDAYE’s passion for Hip Hop began with the first known recorded songs, “King Tim III” by the Fatback Band and “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugarhill Gang. Through the years of discovery, EDAYE participated in most forms of Hip Hop expression such as graffiti, dance, beatboxing, rapping, and producing music. In 1996, he performed at several open mics at the Nuyorican Poets Café during Bobbito and Rocky’s “All That” Wednesdays. His journey has led to his focus on audio engineering and music production. In 2002, shortly after graduating SAE Institute of Technology, EDAYE became a part of the opening team at Platinum Sound Recording Studio. EDAYE worked as an assistant engineer on Wyclef Jean’s “Preacher’s Son”, DJ Kay Slay’s “Streetsweeper Vol.1”, Tom Jones’ “Mr. Jones” and Jonathan Demme’s “The Agronomist”. In 2003, he left Platinum Sound to focus on creating SIX ZRO Entertainment.
Music has always been a huge part of ALEXIE F's life. Raised in the Bronx, the birthplace of hiphop, Alexie was exposed to all types of music- heavy metal, pop, rock, soul, jazz, merenge, salsa. All of it embraced with sincere passion. At an early age his father put bongos in his hands, setting off a spark that became a flame. The bongos led to congas and song writing followed. In the early eighties, Alexie gained admission into one of the hottest house music clubs, the Paradise Garage. The experience changed his life. After that eye opener, Alexie F. bought every single he could find and not long after got his hands on a couple of drum machines. In the 90's, Alexie scored his first production credit with a group called AURA. Alexie wrote the local smash "Trust Me Boy". He later worked for Sparkle Management assisting such artists as Marc Anthony, George Lamond, T.K.A, Judy Torres, Two Without Hats and Sam Savon. Alexie also wrote for the Harlem Nities Press contributing a monthly poem for their "What's Going On" column. Taking a huge break from music to do other things, he made his way back to the scene. In 1999, Alexie F. and Edaye crossed paths and have been working together since.

THE ZRO HOUR returns with a great show featuring one of Toronto, Canada's finest emcees- ETERNIA . We profiled Eternia in a recent post, SECRET WEAPON , in early March. This weekend she is hosting the Trinity College Hip Hop Music Festival in Hartford, Connecticut. Eternia was very laid back and gave us some insight into her career and her passion for the music. Here is a preview of the interview-
The show is laced with new music from AKROBATIK, TALIB KWELI, CL SMOOTH feat. SKYZOO, THE SMILE RAYS, AAROPHAT, VAST AIRE & VORDUL MEGA (Cannibal OX) and KRS ONE. THE ZRO HOUR is back on that sh--! We return with a new show featuring the BKNY based collective POINT DOT PERIOD . We got familiar with Point Dot Period after seeing them perform at Southpaw in Brooklyn opening up for Bekay and recently at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. I connected with ETURNAL and asked if he could bring the crew through and he said, "You want the whole crew?". He later explained that Point Dot rolls more than 40 deep. I suggested he roll with some of the crew that we saw at Nuyorican and they lit the studio with tremendous energy. Eturnal rolled through with the inimitable Heez Hefner, J-HON , emcee/producer ZEPS , F-DUB , MGEEZ and underground veteran MIKE SWIFT ! This multicultural collective grew up together before they started making music together and the unity shows. Of course we got that preview of the freestyle session...
I dropped classics by DAS EFX and HEATHER B and laced the show with new music form KRS ONE, IAMISEE, WILDCHILD, AKROBATIK, STLYES P., and TERMANOLOGY. Whatchu waiting for?? Download this now!

THE ZRO HOUR- HIP HOP LOVE 02.15.08
THE ZRO HOUR is back with a dripping hot mixshow for this lovers' weekend. Valentine's Day passed on Thursday but we can still stretch the love appeal for a few more days right? We were too busy enjoying ours to drop this earlier but it should still come right on time. In Hip Hop, there has always been songs focused on the good, bad and ugly sides of the relationship game. Slow jams wash that warm feeling over you but emcees don't hold back when it comes to expressing the complexities of love. From chicks on the side to needing love to getting passed by, we all have our favorite anthem that sums up our war with the heart. We got new joints form JEAN GRAE , AAROPHAT (Rawkus 50), BABY SHAM , WISE INTELLIGENT and GHOSTFACE. We take it back with a few rare and classic gems from PRINCE MARKIE DEE & THE SOUL CONVENTION, LeSHAUN, FATHER MC, HEAVY D, WU-TANG and MC LYTE .
For the ladies I included some treats in the form of CHRISTOPHER WILLIAMS and a great new singer outta Seattle, Washington, DARRIUS . Dim the lights and chill...

THE ZRO HOUR- In Studio w/MONSTER 02.05.08
We are back with a another one! Last week we featured two great interviews with LIN QUE and BEKAY . During that same recording session, we had one other guest that had so much presence, we had to feature him solely on this episode of THE ZRO HOUR. Run for cover! MONSTER is in the building! Hailing from New Jeru from a town called Negroville, comes a giant among emcees. I know some of you are thinking what is this WWF sh!t? Have no fear, MONSTER is here to wipe out the mic villains who are destroying Hip Hop. He conceals his identity so that he can swoop down and crush you muthaf*ckas! Monster laced us with a crazy freestyle session. If you doubt me-check the show. Last week I dropped one of his joints, "DEAR EAST COAST". Below is a short video for that track-
Dear East Coast Video/ Directed By Supreme Flix Prod.
Of course we bring some great music to round out the show. We set it off with classic joints from GRAND PUBA and FUNKDOOBIEST , new music from TURF TALK , MR. METAPHOR , BEKAY , JOE BUDDEN , LADY NICOLE feat. BABY SHAM and TALIB KWELI feat. JEAN GRAE . Enjoy the show...

THE ZRO HOUR- In Studio w/LIN QUE & BEKAY 01.29.08
THE ZRO HOUR returns with a great show featuring special guests LIN QUE and BEKAY ! We worked hard to get these two to come through THE ZRO HOUR and it resulted in two of the best interviews we have done. Many may remember Lin Que as "Isis" from the group X-Clan and from her solo work in the 90's. Lin returns to the scene with a tight new album, "GODspeed" and drops wisdom on her experience in the industry, her company and current projects. One of 2007's Rawkus 50, Bekay "The Lyrical Horror Flick" sits in for a hilarious interview and drops some vicious bars in the process. We have long supported Bekay on the show and it was a pleasure to let him rock. We play a few new joints from JEAN GRAE , TOUCH and NATO feat. WORDSWORTH, CEE-ROCK "THE FURY" , TRIBECA , MONSTER (whoo-got an interview with him due next week!) & CYMARSHALL LAW and take it back with classics from the FAT BOYS and 3XDOPE! Enjoy the show..
