Libram X Book ReviewsMat Black on LivejournalMat Black on FlickrMat Black on OKCupid(Hot) Mat on Mat (Action)
cyberhipster ubergeek book reviewer and bookseller. Probably a tad too bitter and sardonic for my own good, but the sweet isn't as sweet without the bitter.I am a compulsive polybiblioist and suffer from acute philophilia, along with a number of other quirky quasi-real neurotic afflictions. In the past I've been a club dj, a delivery driver, a restaraunt manager, a fry cook, a stock room attendant for both a pharmacy and a lighting retailer (seperate jobs, not a pharmacy/ lighting store, though that would be totally deck), a driver for a food wholesaler, a jobber for an electrical company, and a few other things here and there.I collect books, old and new vinyl records, toys and games. On a pound for pound basis, I probably own more books than anything else. I sing along with songs when I'm driving. I talk to myself when I'm frustrated at work. I own a cowboy hat. What I'd like to be when I grow up is a cowboy, a samurai, a pirate, a rock star, a writer, a brain surgeon, an archaeologist, a palentologist, a physicist, a fighter pilot, a secret agent, a jewel thief, a time-traveller, a cyborg, or a wizard. What I'd REALLY like to be when I grow up is a combination of all those things. And maybe an evil genius to boot.I'm somewhat accident prone. I don't like playing sports, because I always get hit in the head with the ball (or equivalent projectile). I've even been hit in the head with a bowling ball. I like rummage saling, but I never get a chance to go. I have 40 some cousins. My grandma thinks that I sound like my mom on the phone. She usually has to go through three or four names when talking to one of us grandkids before she gets the right one. She once called me Julie.I'm very upset at the current state of Saturday morning cartoons. They just aren't as good as they were in the 80s. I miss cartoons like Galaxy High School, Dungeons & Dragons, Punky Brewster, and the Smurfs. I really miss O.G. Readmore.Things I Like:The words 'bivouac,' 'inexorably,' and 'fortuitous'.Girls with the "naughty librarian" look. Or even the "rogue librarian" look. Heck, even just girls in glasses.Being in a car during violent summer rainstorms.Reading aloud to someone before going to bed.Long pointless drives to look for unusual shopping places.Long hot bubble baths. The smell of old books.Spending time doing nothing in particular with someone I care about.Jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and board games.
