About Me

MyGen Profile Generator MyGen Profile Generator MyGen Profile Generator Mihail Ivanov was born on the mighty cold 5th of November somewhere in the wild eastern territories of Europe. In the beginning he seemed like a perfectly normal child, just as normal as the other children until the age of 8 when he first encountered the brainwashing power of music by starting to take piano lessons. His brain, body and soul struggled hard and around the age of 11 he stopped having any physical contact with musical instruments what so ever. His ear contact with music though became stronger and stronger. He started listening more and more to different kinds of music and around the age of 13 seemed that the old addiction was coming back to him. This time the symptoms were…guitar lessons. Less than 2 years later he lost it completely and his parents were forced to put him in a music high school mental facility under the name of National Music School “Liubomir Pipkov” - Sofia. There together with other children, who’s brains were plagued by the same disease he studied classical guitar. Somewhere in that period jazz had been introduced to Mihail, which led to a strange development of his mental state. At the age of 17 he decided that the guitar was too small. Somewhere in the summer of 1999 the guitar was left behind and Mihail started taking double bass lessons. We still don’t know if the fact that his father is a professional double bass player had anything to do with that decision of his. Anyway again less than 2 years later he was admitted at the jazz department of the Bulgarian State Music Academy “Pancho Vladigerov” with main subject double bass, a superior mental facility for critical cases. After 2 years of attending school (therapy sessions) every single day Mihail started thinking about going abroad and in 2002 at the age of 20 he left the humble, safe, comfortable environment of his parents house and his fatherland and waded into the deep and mysterious waters of the real world. He was admitted at the jazz department of the Conservatory of Amsterdam. There he met people from all over the world in even more critical condition. It wasn’t difficult for him to find common language with these poor lost souls. He ended up playing and even singing in different bands. The saddest part of it is that he became the laughing stock of the quiet Amsterdam neighborhood, because more and more people became curious and because of some pervert reason, have been watching and even listening to the strange and increasing demonstrations of his illness… somewhere in the dark Amsterdam clubs… Some strange and unknown by now forces made it possible for the Amsterdam music society to get rid of Mihail one lucky day – the Amsterdam Conservatory gave him a diploma and wanted to hear of him no more. At the time being the funny character that you see on the slide show is trying to find peace of his haunted mind in the dark reality of his fatherland. Of course it is already impossible for him to fool even a little child that he is sane but the musicians in the wonderland called Bulgaria are not far away from that state of mind either so the connection between him and them was easily established. Mihail has embroiled himself in a few projects like The Hristo Yotzov Group and the Dimitar Bodurov Trio where he has found an avenue of expression of his illness, harmless for him and rather puzzling for the people around. It is difficult to predict where his corrupted hardware will lead him next. MyGen Profile Generator
