Legend has it that Princess Freesia’s shuttle pod was discovered in a suburban park in Sydney back in 1983. Taking pity on this lost alien infant, and fearing for her safety, the kind hearted husband and wife who found her adopted her as their own and fled to the secluded Tweed Valley, on the Queensland border, to raise her in peace. Fulfilling the ancient prophecy of her people, at the turn of the millennium Princess Freesia met the man who would help her spread the messages of her people. That man was James Higgins, then just a boy of 13 years.

James Higgins was born in Adelaide in 1986 to two respected professional creatives. He was bred on a staple diet of all forms of music. His first favourite band was the Doors, and he was also partial to 70s funk, rock, soul, and all other forms of creative expression. When his family decided to start anew on the East Coast of Australia, the fates of the two children were sealed. It would be some years before they met in High School, but James now recalls walking past Freesia’s home on his way to primary school and feeling drawn to it - the pull of a destiny that was written in the stars eons ago.

In the year 2000, when armageddon didn’t come as expected, the world was relieved that Y2K was just a load of hype and panic. Little did they know that the true significance of that year was unfolding in the inconspicuous music rooms of Murwillumbah High School, as James and Freesia began to co-write their first songs at the decaying chip-board piano. They had found kindred spirits in each other, both inspired by the same things: the beauty of nature; the music of bygone decades (Roy Ayers, Leon Ware, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, and a plethora of rare groove artists); modern acid-jazz and funk artists like Jamiroquai and Incognito; the spiritual journey of life and the need for a higher love and acceptance in the world.

After several years of solid composing and facing their first live performances together, mere children at the time, the pair furthered their education by enrolling in a Popular Music degree at the Queesland Conservatorium. Here they spent four years honing their skills and understanding of the industry. Upon graduating together in 2006, they knew it was finally time to share their message with the world. After setting up their own studio and exploring new directions for their sound, James and Freesia began producing a new project, unlike anything they had done before. Nude Continuum was formed:

Raw, naked, jazz-inspired retro-electro-funk, inspiring crowds of sweaty, scantily-clad bodies to cavort under flashing coloured lights. Messages of love, positivity, freedom of thought and sexuality, social and political activism, all wrapped in fun-filled spunky funk, soul, house, acid-jazz and disco music.

Nude Continuum are a flashback to the best music of yesteryear, but are equally a band for the future. Their debut album “Nightclub of the Nudist” has been recorded in Western Europe, the United Kingdom, Asia, North America and Scandinavia, though Freesia and James have never left their own studio in Australia. The power of the internet has allowed the pair to collaborate with some of the world’s finest musical talents, including British artists Soulpersona, Punk Pappa, Harry Coade, Derrick Mckenzie (Jamiroquai), and Winston Rollins (Real, Jools Holland), as well as Katisse Buckingham (USA), Opolopo (Sweden), Skeil (Belgium), Luman Child (Switzerland), Niel’C (Netherlands), and many more. “Nightclub of the Nudist” is not to be missed.
