About Me

I am the lead singer of Kings of Last Call and ex-guitar player for Kira's Rage... this is my solo acoustic project. I've abused my voice for years, but am relearning how to sing on stage... this way I can drink for free. I write songs about girls and bars that usually don't exist. I'm inspired by Keith Richards and Charles Bukowski, but lack their self-destructive tendencies and therefore, I suppose, their depth of emotion in my writing... but I do have all my teeth. I like 60s country and 70s punk... the last 20 years have not been kind to these genres. I subscribe to the belief that the best way to have a great music scene, is to create a great artistic community. If you are a talented writer, artist or musician of any kind, drop me a line (Pornography is not art).

If Matchbox 20 is too cerebral for you...

I should be finishing a paper right now, but instead I’ve been navigating the wide world of Nickelback and Creed fan pages in a fruitless attempt to understand those bands’ mass appeal. I ...

Musical Quote of the Day

I hate Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney's itunes commercial is, in my opinion, the best commercial in the history of commercials. I ache for the Beatles catalog to be remastered and offered online (so I can snag all of those ...

A word on coming demo songs...

The songs I will be posting in the near future will be recorded the old-fashioned way (sort of).  I'm recording lead vocals and rhythm guitar with one mic in the middle of the ...

So... I can't sleep

I've killed six scorpions tonight... SIX! This is a completely un-fucking-acceptable number of potentially deadly creatures to be found in an 1,100 square foot area. How am I supposed to go to sleep? ...

My Thoughts on a Giuliani-Clinton showdown...

Remember how riveting the "Subway Series" was? Yeah... that's what I thought.

New Random Observations

The most effective way to reveal yourself to be a moron in front of people who have a cursory knowledge of US History, World History or Politics is to make a joke about the French surrendering... this...

God versus Darwin

Survival of the fittest is a bunch of bullshit... at least in the context of modern human society. Ironically, the very liberals who embrace this tenet can be blamed for corrupting it; for messing wit...

Berlin and Waylon Jennings

A few years ago, I wandered into a "block party" style event that had a bad 80s cover band playing a song I'd never heard to a crowd of about 30 people. The next song was "Take My Breath Awa...

With the exception of those of you on my friends list, the media are a bunch of assholes.

Adam Corolla had the head of some seventh-tier "civil rights" group on his program a couple of days ago discussing this "incident" in Tempe where some Tempe police officers let some kids (ol...
