Vacant Reference formed in September 2006. We are heavily influenced by old school grunge/punk bands e.g. Nirvana, Greenday and The Ramones etc.
Until early this year, we spent our time writing and practising songs for our first set. After beginning to look for a drummer, we were introduced to Aaron by Dynamo drummer, Joni. We have officially been together as a 3-piece since Feb 2007. Our set so far consists of 6 of our own songs, and two covers. We are continually working on new material and practising as much as possible. We are currently arranging more gigs.

Ruth -
Songwriter/Guitarist/Singer.
I am a Christian. I have been playing guitar and writing songs for around 7 years. Punk and grunge music, in particular Green Day and Nirvana are massively influential to me. Their music has helped me get through a lot of things. My favourite guitarists/singers are Billie Joe Armstrong, Kurt Cobain and Brody Dalle.

Bassist/part-time songwriter
I am originally a guitarist and have been playing since I was 13years old. I was heavily influenced by bands like Guns n Roses, Nirvana, Iron Maiden and AC/DC when learning to play guitar. Hendrix and Slash (being my idols at the time) are who pushed me to be a better lead player, so I learnt a lot of scales which helped me imrovise a lot of music.
I met Ruth at Bangor High School and discovered we both had the same interests. I left school at 16 to study music technology, and a year after leaving, Ruth contacted me about making a band. She needed a bassist, so I offered, and here I am now! =D
I've been playing bass since 2003, but offically in Vacant Reference from early 2006.
