Sluicevalve formed in New Zealand in September 2006. Observing a lack of good, heavy, melodic rock and having a desire to make their musical goals a reality, vocalist Andrew and guitarist Adam decided to form the band.
Producing vocal melodies to song ideas was instantly successful so the pair set out to search for the best musicians to complete their line-up. Second guitarist Reuben was soon brought on board, introducing a metal flavour to the band. Andy later joined, providing some hard-hitting drumming. Hayden soon followed on Bass. Sluicevalve is now a tight, complete unit, bringing together different styles to create their unique wall of sound.
The result has been very satisfactory for Sluicevalve. Coupling strong vocals with heavy, low-tuned guitars, Sluicevalve are defining a new sound in kiwi rock.
"We're working hard to bring the band from obscurity to being a big name in New Zealand", says vocalist Andrew. "There's been a lot of interest in what we're doing and we're booked for gigs around Auckland. Sluicevalve's current focus is writing and performing good rock music. We have a bunch of songs and there's more to come - our listeners will be treated to a mix of heavy tunes and emotive ballads."
