Born and raised in the Heart of Dixie, my passion for music has been very strong since I was a little girl. I sang my first church solo when I was 5 years old. To this day, I still remember the feeling I had on stage. I knew in my heart that singing was what I was meant to do for the rest of my life. I grew up in Mobile, Alabama. I have amazing parents who have supported me in every endeavor of my life. I have one brother, Chad. I started singing in church when I was 3 years old and have always been apart of the choirs at church. I am currently a member of the choir and praise team at Dayspring Baptist Church, here in Mobile.
I have been apart of some wonderful experiences in my life involving music and singing. I attended Baker Elementary and Middle School from 2nd grade until 9th grade. My 8th grade year, I wanted so bad to be apart of the elite show choir, The Baker’s Dozen, that performed in many places and represented the school. This group had won numerous competitions. They did not accept anyone until you were in the 10th grade. I talked to the director and she turned me down because of my age. Soon after, she allowed me to come sing for her, and for the very first time in Baker’s history, I was the first 8th grader to ever be apart of the group. I sang and performed with the group for a year and a half and left there in the middle of my 9th grade year to attend Faith Academy. I graduated from Faith in 1996 with Honors and a 4.0 GPA. During my time at Faith, I was a member of the choir and the Alabama All-State Choir all 4 years. During my Junior year, I competed with 159 girls across Alabama in the Alabama Independent School Association division and won AISA Vocalist of the Year in the state of Alabama.
After leaving high school, I attended Faulkner State on a full vocal scholarship. I was a member of the Faulkner Singers and The Sun Chief Sound, an elite show group at the college. During my Freshman year, I was in the Miss Faulkner Pageant competing against 56 other girls. My talent was singing “Someone Like You†from the Broadway musical Jekyl and Hyde. I was crowned “ Miss Faulkner State 1997-1998†that night and that was one of my proudest moments. During my reign, I represented the school at various functions and was able to sing at many of them. I started a Christian band, Mended Hearts, while at college. We had about 5 vocalists and 6 band members. We traveled all over Alabama and Mississippi singing in churches. After college, I continued singing in church.
In 2001, I met an amazing man. I married him in August 2002. We have 3 precious children, Mary Caitlyn (6 years), Hannah (4 years) and Brooks (2 years). My life has been so blessed. My desire and passion is to sing and perform Country music. Many people can truly relate to the message behind a lot of the songs. Country music is real and it’s from the heart. I have loved it from the beginning. I am who I am because of my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, my parents, my amazing husband and children and music. It represents me, who I am, and what I stand for.
