Chris & Hamish met at high school where they shared a love of all sorts of music & spent much of 6th year messing around in the rehersal rooms. After they left school they started going out clubbing in Glasgow to nights @ The SubClub, The Arches, The Art School & The Soundhaus where they delveloped a passion for all sorts of electronic music. In the spring of 2004 a set of decks & a mixer were purchased, the boys began mixing & Dirty Basement were formed as a DJing/Drumming duo.
At first it was a blend of rock, electroclash & tech-house but over the years they gained a passion for techno also. They have got to play various venues & events over the last 2 years including: The Renfrew Ferry, Basura Blanca, The Q-Club, The Carnival Arts Centre, King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, The Soundhaus, Knockengorroch & The Silent Disco @ T in the Park. They've got/going to play with the likes of Cagedbaby, DJ Houz Mon, Ben Macklin, Tim Deluxe, Dirty South, Martijn Ten Velden, Dj Kamikaze & Mr Eyez (aka Jack Foundation), Jamie Bissmere & Paul Langly, Bloc Party & many more to be confirmed
They have had a residancy at king tuts but now hold residencies @ The Basement at The Soundhaus on the 1st Friday of the Month & have also started their own new night with Elliot Castro @ The Classic Grand on the third Saturday of the month called *Diversion* where they bring big names to you for bargin prices. There are also the occasional night with their partners in grime 2 Manky Djs at varous venues around Glasgow.
Hamish is a talented drummer & Chris does some of his own production under the alias Plagiarism Kills. Sometimes they use live drums or even do live laptop sets: space, time & noise permitting, but this may become more of a regular thing as the boys are working on Dirty Basement live material at the moment.
When not DJing the boys can be found studying at SAE, making their own tunes, driving a van, enjoying the local nightlife or day in the park.
