Playdoe

Playdoe is multi-instrumentalist turned DJ / producer. He has created an original DJ set accompanied with a LIVE keyboard, saxes and flute. Music is triggered from a laptop, which he embellishes on the fly.
Playdoe sounds like a full band, but his state-of-the-art equipment is far more versatile and responsive. Music genres include Smooth/Cafe Jazz, Down Beat, Nu Jazz, Hiphop and Funk / Groove.
BACKGROUND
Playdoe started playing clarinet as a whipper snapper in year five, and then moved to alto sax.He played baritone sax in his high school jazz band and was spotted early as a talent,winning best jazz band member twice, he played in aninterschool all-stars swing jazz band, and also won outstanding soloist at his interschool jazzband competition.
In 1997 he went to the WA Academy of Performing Arts and studied jazz.He began playing in a professional rock and roll band Shakedownfrom 1998 – 2003 doing countless corporate gigs at venues such as the Hyde Park Hotel, Observation City, Burswood Ballroom, Fremantle Gaol.
He played a regular show at the Universal Bar (some at the Niche Bar) in Perth on Saturday nights during 2004 with a DJ, playing both sax and keyboards.
This period triggered the Playdoe project.
