THE BEGINNING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT
You know that the beginning is the most important part of any work, especially in the case of a young and tender thing; for that is the time at which the character is being formed and the desired impressions is more readily taken…Shall we just carelessly allow children to hear any casual tales which may be devised by casual persons, and to receive into their minds ideas for the most part the very opposite of those which we should wish them to have when they are grown up?
We cannot…Anything received into the mind at that age is likely to become indelible and unalterable; and therefore it is most important that the tales which the young first hear should be models of virtuous thoughts…
Then will our youth dwell in a land of health, amid fair sights and sounds, and receive the good in everything; and beauty, the effluence of fair works, shall flow into the eye and ear, like a health-giving breeze from a purer religion, and insensibly draw the soul from the earliest years into likeness and sympathy with the beauty of reason.
There can be no nobler training than that.

I'd like to meet:
I want to use this as a way to keep in touch with old and new friends. I love to meet new people. When it comes to friends, I want to meet other people who are fighting the fight against abuse. I would also like to meet people who like to have a good time, and who can laugh alot; as well as someone who can make me laugh and who is there for me when I need them the most. My friends DON'T have to believe the same way I do, but they do have to be caring and considerate to others.
In a relationship, I am looking for someone who I can share my faith with. A Christian, who knows what he believes, and isn't afraid to share it with others. I want someone who will be there for me and who will be patient with me. I make several mistakes, and I need someone who will understand that. I want someone that won't go running away at the first sight of trouble; someone who will stick around and fight to save our relationship. I am a hopeless romantic, and I believe that someday I will find the guy God has planned for me. Until then, I'm going to be patient, and I'm not settling for any less.
On a celebrity level: the main people I want to meet would be Johnny Depp, Holly Marie Combs, Drew Fuller, Chris Daughtry, Keith Urban, Tom Welling, Alyssa Milano, Nickelback, Casting Crowns, and many many others. If their work has inspired me, I would love to meet them.
What To Watch Out For When Adults Are With Children
http://www.stopitnow.com
Have you ever seen someone playing with a child and felt uncomfortable with it? Maybe you thought, "I'm just over-reacting," or, "He/She doesn't really mean that." Don't ignore the behavior; learn how to ask more questions about what you have seen. The checklist below offers some warning signs.
Do you know an adult or older child who:
Refuses to let a child set any of his or her own limits?Insists on hugging, touching, kissing, tickling, wrestling with or holding a child even when the child does not want this affection? Is overly interested in the sexuality of a particular child or teen (e.g., talks repeatedly about the child's developing body or interferes with normal teen dating)?Manages to get time alone or insists on time alone with a child with no interruptions?Spends most of his/her spare time with children and has little interest in spending time with someone their own age?Regularly offers to babysit many different children for free or takes children on overnight outings alone?Buys children expensive gifts or gives them money for no apparent reason?Frequently walks in on children/teens in the bathroom?Allows children or teens to consistently get away with inappropriate behaviors?
If you answered "yes" to some of these questions, talk to that person. If you are uncomfortable, but don't see these signs, be sure to trust your instincts and ask questions. For information and advice on how to talk to someone, please call the Stop It Now! Toll-Free Helpline at 1-888-PREVENT.

Television:
First on my list of favorite tv shows would be Charmed. The reason I love this show so much is because of the family aspects and the fact that they help others. I also enjoy watching Smallville, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, and many of the older shows, such as I Love Lucy, Who's The Boss, and Three's Company. I love shows that have to do with family, friends and things that matter most in this world.
Books:
I love to read. I have been reading anything I can get my hands on since I was old enough to sit up straight. I also love to write. In fact, I'm currently attempting to write a Christian novel about a girl who was sexual abused as a child.
My favorite book to read, of course would be The Bible (preferably the book of James). I also love to read "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers. It's the type of book that you could read over and over, and never get tired of it. It has such a good lesson behind it. I can relate to the main character in so many ways.
Another good book(s) that I recommend would be the Dave Pelzer trilogy ("A Child Called 'It'"). I also enjoy anything by Nicholas Sparks, Mary Higgins Clark, and Karen Kingsbury.

Art/Design
I am an art major, with an emphasis in graphic design. I love anything to do with art and design, especially graphic design. There are certain aspects of art that I am not great at, but I love it all. I love the creativity and the expression of it. Everyone is different with their art, and that is the beauty of it. My favorite artists are Thomas Kinkade (painter) and Kim Anderson (photographer).
Heroes:
My main hero would have to be my Lord and Savior (Jesus Christ). He has brought me through so much. I don't believe I'd be alive if it wasn't for Him. When it comes my time to meet him face to face, I pray that I will be prepared.
My mom would have to be next. She has done so much for me and she has always been there. She has never given up on me and she lets me know EVERYDAY how special I am, and how much she loves me. For that, I am truly blessed and thankful.
Some other heroes of mine would be my grandfather ("Papa" Laws), my friends (you know who you are), my church family, and everyone that is trying to make this world a better place for others to live.
