About Me

After several years of taking off backpacking, and going back and forth to Australia where I almost stayed, I'm now back in Edinburgh where I feel my roots are. Self-employed as a graphic designer, specialising in magazine design (www.lucyreid.co.uk). I most enjoy spending time with family and friends, good food and wine, and lots of laughter! I think I will always have itchy feet, and often feel the pull to pack up and take off again, but I'm trying to settle down a bit...Things I like: Jaffa Cakes, art, the sea, daffodils, daydreaming, the sound of rain when you're in a tent, tiger prawns, sand and salt on your skin, olives, laughing uncontrollably, squirrels, cheese (even Stilton), jalapenos, Marlborough sauvignon blanc, random acts of kindness, cold beer on a hot day, silliness, tea, swimming in the sea (somewhere hot, not the North Sea, that's my idea of hell), Modern Toss cards, the word 'discombobulated'.Things I don't like: seeing people spitting, bad customer service, pickled herring, being cold, roasted pepper, a badly made coffee.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Like-minded people. Anyone with dreams and aspirations or a story. Travellers, artists. And anyone with a wacky sense of humour :-)A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked. ~ Bernard Meltzer

Music:

Keane, Air, James Morrison, Jack Johnson, Jewel, Alex Lloyd, Groove Armada, Dido, Zero 7, Nerina Pallot, Crowded House

Movies:

'The Big Blue' is a favourite of mine. 'The Bridges of Madison County' always makes me cry! 'Dumb and Dumber' - that bit where he gets his tongue stuck to the chairlift cracks me up. And I like any films with Matt Damon ;-)

Books:

'The Kite Runner' by Khaled Hosseini - it took me days before I could even think about starting another book. 'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold, devastating and wonderful, I'm not sure I could read it again it made me cry so hard!! All Paulo Coelho books.
