SANDUST RECORDING STUDIO--ROBLES JUNCTION, AZI started playing guitar at the age of 8 yrs old in the town of BISBEE, AZ in the early 60's. My first band were the SHAMROCKS because our drummer's dad owned the local shamrock dairy distibutor and bought us some new drums and microphones, so we felt a little obligated. We even stenciled a big four leaf clover on the bass drum head. I played in various bands in my teens, including playing bass in a HERB ALPERT & the TIJUANNA BRASS cover band with my good friend, BOB BARICH on trumpet. (remember the "LONELY BULL"?). After a stint in the ARMY, i joined several local bands in MORENCI, AZ including SNOWBLIND and FRIENDS who were fronted by the legendary guitar/vocalist/keyboard duo of BILL PERRY and GILBERT ALCAREZ. Upon moving to the BOOTHEEL OF NEW MEXICO area in the late 70's and forming DC STARR & a couple of other rock bands, i met a young guitar virtuoso by the name of JON NAPPER, and we played in several groups together. When Jon left for TUCSON,AZ, i started playing bass guitar in a group called VCR, (VICTOR,CLAY,RIC) which had some local success as a cover every thing bar band.(from "la bamba" to "nothing else matters" & everything in between!!) Shortly after the breakup of VCR, another guitar slinger came to town by the name of JOE MORTIMER. He wanted to form a three piece blues outfit to play at the SILVER CITY, NM blues fest in '97' to which he was already signed to appear. After a blistering 45 minute blues set which included a tribute to STEVIE RAY VAUGHN and two encores, BLUEHOUSE (with TOM MARTINEZ on drums) stayed together for about 3 years, opening for such blues artists as TINSLEY ELLIS, DAVID GOGO, SARAH BROWN, the SAM LAY BLUES BAND featuring BOB CORRITORIE, the MEMPHIS P-TAILS and the BAD NEWS BLUES BAND to name a few.
