Biography
Named after the Japanese term for the hobby of modeling stuff out of plastic, Plamo is the gleeful, whimsical home recording project of professional clay modeler Shuji Suzuki . Beginning in 1995, Suzuki started working on a series of skittery, sparkly indie pop tunes that drew from the jaunty, carefree music found on early Nintendo games of the 8-bit variety (something that would eventually find the artist contributing to the soundtrack for the Sega Dreamcast game Roomania 203) and nodded to like-minded peers such as Lullatone, Takako Minekawa, and I Am Robot and Proud. His first full-length album, Full Scratched, emerged three years later, and was followed by numerous appearances on 8-bit-oriented compilation discs. A second album, Needs Work, followed in 2005, and plans were in the works for a split 7' and an appearance on an Audio Dregs compilation album two years later.
