Woodruff Guitars

YOUR guitar the way YOU want it

About Me

Woodruff Custom Guitars was formed in 2005 in Peterborough, Ontario by myself, Mitchell Woodruff. After building the 12-string dreadnought you see here I packed up my stuff and roadtripped cross-country to Vancouver. I learned to build and repair guitars at the Summit School of Guitar Building and Repair (www.luthiers-international.com) on Vancouver Island and I really wanted to come back to the west coast. The time I spent at Summit was incredible. When I was finished I had built five guitars; 1 solid body electric, 1 thin line electric, 2 dreadnoughts and 1 acoustic jazz archtop. I also spent a month in Umea, Sweden working with repairman Leif Jakobsson at Guitarworks (www.guitarworks.nu/eng). I do a wide range of repairs, including; set-ups, fretdresses, custom fitted bone nuts and saddles, electronics, broken headstocks, neck resets, acoustic bridge removal and replacement, re-frets, and many more. The best part for me is giving someone their favourite guitar back and hearing, "Wow, I never thought it would play like this again!" I have been playing guitar for as long as I can remember but as much as I love playing it has always been the structural aspect of guitars that I've been most interested in. I always knew that someday I would build and repair guitars, and now here I am working my hardest to make it work.Have a look at my MySpace and if you have any questions just email me at [email protected] or better yet add me as a friend and leave me a message.Keep on Rockin' in the Free WorldMitch

I'd like to meet:

If you are in the Vancouver area and play guitar/bass I'd like to meet you. For set-ups, fretdresses and other fairly minor repairs I can have your guitar back to you for your next jam. This way you won't have to be without your baby for your next gig. I take pride in giving your guitar the best possible set-up but I also want to talk with you about how you want it to play. A lot of guitar shops don't do repairs on site so who knows who is working on your guitar. Bring it to me and we'll sit down and discuss what needs to be done to make your axe rock the way it's meant to.Go With The Flow - QOTSA
