Professional experience 2006-Current

Has been touring the world with the classic/hard-rock band Y&T. The Band has sold over 4 million records and has been very successful on radio with such hits as Summertime Girls, Forever, Rescue me, Mean Streak. etc. Since his joining, they have played major international festivals, concert halls and clubs with such bands as Whitesnake, Heart, Poison, Motorhead, Ted Nugent, Deep Purple, The Doobie Brothers, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Slaughter, Johnny Lang, Puddle of Mudd, Alice in Chains, Steppenwolf, etc.

Y&T recently released a live concert DVD filmed in Holland, and is currently working on a new CD this winter.

2002-Current

Member of Northern California based rock band Seven Reasons. They recently won a contest on Mix 106.5 in San Jose and opened for Bon Jovi at the San Jose Arena. Also, they performed live on the Mark and Brian morning radio show, KLOS Los Angeles, which is syndicated around the western states. The band is currently getting airplay on a few major Northern California radio stations and can be seen performing live shows around the west in support of their CD, “Seven Reasons,” which Mike produced.

1998-2000

Member of Sacramento, Ca. based hard-rock band SoulMotor, including Tesla bassist Brian Wheat and ex-UFO guitarist Tommy Mclendon. Their self-titled debut album on CMC International Records received heavy rotation on rock stations across the country. They toured as a supporting act for Jackyl and Def Leppard, and played shows with many bands including: Kid Rock, Megadeath, Hole, Sammy Hagar, Collective Soul, Ted Nugent, System of a Down, Buck Cherry, Sevendust, Stained, Slaughter, Quite Riot, and Night Ranger.

1994 - 1997

Recorded three albums with guitar virtuoso Michael Lee Firkins for Shrapnel Records. Cactus Cruz (1996), Chapter Eleven (1995) and with his former band The Howling Iguanas, self-titled (1994). Toured Europe Twice, performed at the NAMM Show (L.A.) for Peavey, and the Salon De Music, (Europe’s trade show in Paris) for Yamaha.

As a Freelance Artist

Performed with John Denver, Neal Schon (Journey), Steve Lukather (Toto), and guitar prodigy Larry Mitchell (Tracy Chapman, Billy Squire, Rick Ocasek). Recorded with Jesse Collin Young (Youngbloods), Mickey Thomas (Starship), Tyran Porter (Doobie Bros.) and new country artist Shelly Streeter. That CD is currently being played on CMT and radio around the U.S.

Additional Professional experience 1995-2005

Member, since 1995, of San Francisco based blues/rock band The Russell Bros. Featuring ex-Whitesnake, 707 and Taxxi Guitarist Kevin Russell. Played on latest recording entitled Movin’ On. Played shows with Huey Lewis and the News, John Lee Hooker, Steve Morse, Night Ranger and Roy Rodgers. Alumni drummers include: Narada Michael Walden, Steve Smith, Andy Dorshuk (editor of Drum magazine) and Kevin Hayes (Robert Cray Band).

Has been producing CD’s and demos for local artists and songwriters for the last 10 years.

Education

Studied with Steve Smith (Journey/Vital Information) since 1992, took private lessons with Alex Acuna, Carl Allen and other local drummers. He won awards playing in his High School’s bands and as a member of the De Anza College Jazz Band.
