I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships and Friends

About Me

i'm always at 110%. try to do too much, too busy, bc i'm so passionate and i can't say no bc there's so much of life that i want to taste and try on. i'm probably more likely than most people you know to run off and join some sort of lefty granola collective in the woods and do yoga and organic farming all day with a naked hippy baby strapped to my teet. but i'm also prone to fits of type-a overachiever-itis, in which i have natural cocaine-like impulses to take over the world and write books and scale buildings. which is my clark kent and which is my superman? i'm passionate about women's issues and progressive politics, and i'm devoting my primary career to activism and probably writing and teaching about women's sexuality and women's policy. i'm also a nitrite-free ham, and since i've been in new york i've done lots of performance kinds of stuff in grungy bars to entertain drunk people with comic story-telling, improv comedy, a little burlesque, sundry performance art and theater. lately, i've been doing more watching and soaking up the passionate spirits of other eccentrics. My next projects are to start doing freelance writing for magazines, probably about women's sexuality from a feminist perspective, and designing my own deconstructed Brooklyn-style fashion and jewelry. And relearning Spanish so that I can better provide legal services to the needy of New York. Me llamo Diana. Y tu?

My Interests

exploring the outer boroughs, watching low cost high quality theater downtown and in brooklyn, observing amateur performance art, esp if it involves nudity and touching displays of unabashedly mediocre talent, rubulad/complacent/blackkat/kostume kult/burning man and other art collective parties and events of wild behavior with wacky big-hearted characters, enthusiastic scheming about arts and crafts projects that sit on my bedroom floor, health food stores and restaurants, collections of wigs/scarves/fancy gloves and hats/flamboyant and vintage clothing, costuming, making trash into fashion and other conspicuous anticonsumption, garishly lovely tchotchkes and people, communities of underculture and shared progressive values and absurd fun

I'd like to meet:

folks like me who work and play hard. i'd like to meet someone who's f-ing brilliant, passionate and talented, who challenges me and pushes me and inspires me, AND who can also go on an adventure bender to expand our horizons and feel some adrenaline. i have trouble meeting people aren't one or the other. diva socialists, idealogues, absent-minded professors, eccentric performers, passionate ranting intellectuals, dreamers who are doers, all invited.

Television:

not much -late night dating shows or south park for 2am company

Books:

dostoevsky, faulkner, and toni morrison are like comfy oatmeal to which i come home; the corrections by franzen; delillo; lord of the flies; sedaris; annie proulx for her wonderfully bizarre sentences; right now reading female chauvinist pigs, autobiography of a brown buffalo (about a crazy legal aid type lawyer like me), and mongo, about trash reuse in nyc; read the nytimes everyday and that keeps me pretty busy
