About Me

It seems that I'm a person in transition of late. The high gas prices and downturn in economy have had a huge effect on my life, since I'm a retired educator living on a fixed income. Although I'm open to taking on acting projects I'm not actively pursuing auditions and have decided to stay agent-free for now. I spend my days closer to home than ever before...writing, working with a variety of political and helping organizations, assisting my adult children with never-ending career transitions, and spending more time in meditation. I find myself less a UU and more a Buddhist all the time, letting go of attachments to the definitions of myself that so recently seemed so important. A year and a half ago, I thought playing Rick Trevino's mom in his "Separate Ways" video (watch it below) was the most important thing in the world. Now...it was a wonderful milestone, but just a stepping stone on my way to where I'm going. I'm glad you stopped in to join me for a few minutes on this journey.

My Interests

The arts, politics, Buddhism, working out, hiking (especially in the mountains), meditating, walking the dogs, snuggling with the cat, and being a support to my family, friends, and community.

I'd like to meet:

People interested in politics, the arts, words, ideas, and Buddhism.

Music:

I love folk music, folk-rock, country, classical, spiritual, liturgical, and good choral music, although I appreciate well-written intelligent music written in any genre. Unfortunately, I also have dial-up, so can't access the music and videos on MySpace. This is the reason that the only musicians I have as friends on MySpace are local...or friends in real life.

Movies:

Although I love movies, I live a long way from the nearest theatre and simply don't go much these days. As an actress, I've had featured, supporting, and extra roles in locally produced indie films, and am waiting eagerly for the release of "The Dream Healer" (apparently now--in post production--called "Dreamhealing") which was filmed around a year ago in San Antonio, in which I had a supporting role.

Television:

Although I enjoy many shows, time constraints these days prevent me from actually sitting down and watching many of them from beginning to end very often. I am a faithful American Idol fan, though, and watch as often as possible. As an actress, I've been on television over the years in commercials as well as last year's Rick Trevino's "Separate Ways" music video in which I played his mother and which was regularly aired on CMT.

Books:

The ones with ideas and the ones with great stories. I'm partial to memoirs these days.
